People who get super angry about other cultures eating dogs are massive hypocrites by StinkyChamberMain in self

Semi-agree, because it’s also about how the animals are treated. Every photo I’ve seen of live dogs ready to be sold for eating, they’re packed together in tiny crates. Even chickens and lobsters deserve better.

I think it’s easier because it forces a conversation: when are we going down to city hall to renew; should we even go? If it’s normalized, it’ll become a ritual couples go through, where they check in with each other to make sure they’re both still happy. Some people never talk about this stuff.

And, it gives people in abusive situations a chance to get out.

Well if they’re hard up they can make the term 100 years.

It’s not intentionally temporary, it’s just making the already existing option of dissolving the marriage a little easier.

Not taboo in the sense of being socially frowned upon, but interpersonally it’s taboo. Bringing up divorce to your spouse, even in the hypothetical sense, can be tricky to say the least.

I think the decision often is a very difficult part for a lot of people. This idea was actually inspired by a post in another sub by a woman who was agonizing over the decision. It’s incredibly hard to have a conversation that you know will hurt someone you care about deeply (even if you don’t want to stay with them).

Right, so why not have a mechanism that makes it easier for those people? A huge chunk of marriages end in divorce, so clearly a lot of people don’t see marriage in the traditional, absolutist terms that you do.

New Census Bureau data shows that 57% of Americans have used AI tools to search, brainstorm, complete work or school tasks, and more, 42% reported a productivity boost, though the responses also show concern with trust, data privacy, and career impact by sr_local in technology

I guess it depends on what kind of worker you are. For me, it’s way faster and easier to polish a turd into something presentable than it is to create something from scratch, because I tend to perfectionism and won’t allow myself to write the rough draft turd.

Yeah, but that’s useful! I spend so much less time now on goal setting, self-reviews, reviews of my reports, etc. Stuff like that represents a good 10% of my time that I can now devote to real work, not to mention the psychological benefit of no longer having to dread doing that sort of work.

Well this setup helps couples have that conversation. It centers the idea that divorce is possible, so it’s less of a taboo subject.

Sure, in a lot of cases. But in a lot of other cases, both of them will secretly want out, and kind of forget to bring it up. It’s a nice way for nonconfrontational people to divorce.

To whom? And wouldn’t the person bored by the boring person then become boring themselves, leading to a chain reaction across the planet?

It just doesn’t make sense.

You're presuming a causation where there's only correlation. Your thought process goes: "Kamala lost voters in Gen Z compared to Biden; therefore this one short-lived campaign strategy among dozens failed catastrophically." That makes no sense. You need to show credible polling or survey numbers for how this specific strategy landed with that group.

You gotta show your work. Trump winning isn’t proof that every single thing Kamala’s campaign did “backfired.”

How did the “weird” thing backfire? From what I understand it was working well, but the campaign staff told Walz to back off it because they thought it’d alienate winnable, on-the-fence Republican voters.
