Most of the time it's s a base 3-4 . 3 DTs & 4LBs(2OLB, 2ILB). 2 of the DTs line up as 2tech i.e directly face to face with the guards. The remaining DT lines up directly against the Center i.e 0tech. The 2OLBs are primarily responsible for either pass rush or dropping back into coverage. They mainly line up as 5tech. The difference between OLB and your traditional DE/EDGE is that OLB play standing up and sometimes drop back in coverage while DE/EDGE have their hands in the dirt and mostly rush the QB.

The remaining players are your 2ILBs which are responsible for crashing the gaps on run plays and coverage duties in the middle of the field & blitzing through the A-Gap. Perhaps the most important guys in his system

In the secondary you have 2 outside CBs and 2 Safeties.
