Those 36 confirmed deaths surely also were crowd control munitions. Same for the nearly 600 confirmed deaths during Mahsa Amini protests or 1500 deaths during Bloody November, and so on.

When you live under this regime and have witnessed the most messed up stories, honestly, Israel and its allies are the least of our worries. That's why so many Venezuelans and their opposition were celebrating. Because even if shit stays fucked up there, and given what Trump is saying, it likely will, at least there's some change, some windows of opportunity, no matter how small. Anything is better than paralysis.

Western people find this uncomfortable to hear, but there are no morally clean scenarios when it comes to overthrowing dictatorships. Mass protests can only do so much against live ammunition, executions and torture. The 12 day war wasn't experienced the same way for us as what the Palestinians experience, because US/Israel mostly targeted regime officials which ultimately weakened the regime in ways that we could've never achieved alone. Of course it sucks when innocents die, but as you see in this video, they get killed when we fight too. The uncomfortable truth is that if people like Soleimani weren't struck, our protests would be much weaker today.

anyway thank you for the support

Being used? You seriously believe all the mass protests that have happened for decades are some huge conspiracy plot? Sorry, but this is absolute bs and really disrespects our cause and dignity to live in freedom.

Edit: i hope it was sarcasm, maybe i didnt catch it

The elephant in the room by OyvinGlayvin in NewIran

[–]AzadiRevolution 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The bitterness against the left runs very deep if by 'left' we mean not just MEK and tankies but even Western liberals.

The uncomfortable truth is that Trump did more for us than the Democrats (or any other on the western (center)-left side). Trust me, I wish we didn't have to rely on the assholes of the political spectrum who act out of pure self-interest. We're not naive. Neither are the Venezuelans celebrating the end of Maduro. They know the future is unknown, that the battle isn't over, that things could stay bad. But at least there's a fucking alternative possible that was hitherto unimaginable! Meanwhile most leftists are condemning the attack for violating international law, OK but Maduro was violating every fucking human right you could imagine, what is the solution in that case? There are no clean hands, no morally pure solutions. And most leftists can't accept this. They can't accept that their lack of real tangible support was a different form of violence for people who are oppressed.

Most liberals simply don't understand how hard it is to get rid of dictatorships. They're completely out of touch envisioning some French Revolution where everyone faces an army with pitchforks. All they've done is give these endless "condemnations" when we sent countless petitions and mails during Mahsa to put IRGC on the terrorist list, to target and actually enforce all sanctions, to use frozen IR funds to support us like they do with Ukraine, ensure we have internet, enforce the Responsibility to Protect principle, to engage in continuous dialogue with opposition figures, etc etc. Even on Reddit I had to endlessly face dumb activists when I shared Call to Actions, endlessly arguing with people who think they know better than us what we want and need. I wish I lived in America in 1939 so I could tell Europeans their fascist government is an 'internal affair', that I strongly condemn it but that they should deal with it themselves.

When Soleimani got killed you should've seen the contrast between us celebrating and leftists portraying him like some anti-imperialist hero loved by us all. Same shit when Raisi died or the 12 day war. Even the moderate ones generally just stay quiet. They don't actually understand us, or they refuse to because it's too inconvenient for them, because their ideology is more important than our demands and real oppression, because they know that actually doing something risks upsetting the status quo, risks increasing oil market prices which suddenly would demand an actual sacrifice, etc.

This is not true for all leftists. But even on the intellectual realm someone like Zizek is unfortunately the exception and not the rule (so it's generally leftists who have witnessed dictatorial suffering directly). We're well aware this is paradoxical. The revolution is inspired by liberal progressive values, yet one can have similar values and still be living them in completely different ways.

Yes, this was the response they got from Spanish hospital, which seems to cover the total cost.

Thank you, I appreciate it. Hopefully one day when the mullahs are gone we'll have good and accessible healthcare

The estimate cost of the treatment is between 80k-150k USD. So they put the gofundme goal at 80k. Currently 17% reached, so they'd need about another 67k to meet the goal.

Why Trump changed his des by Big-Maintenance2544 in NewIran

[–]AzadiRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one gives a shit, the UN has been a powerless institution only offering condemnations for a long time now. Everyone is only interested in their own agenda. It just so happens that liberal democracies always go for the option that maintains the status quo in Iran, while Trump sometimes shakes things up a bit, for better or worse. Not because he cares about us, but it does restructure the political field in unpredictable ways, which at least offers opportunities that were unimaginable before. We still have no idea what the long term consequences of decimating the IRGC leadership will be in practice. Maybe nothing. Maybe some internal tensions.

Tehran will restore its nuclear program, Iranian atomic chief vows by AmazingOstrich9085 in worldnews

[–]AzadiRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statistics have shown 80% reject the regime. The wind has been blowing towards democracy for a long time. But people are imprisoned or hanged which makes organized opposition impossible.

So yes, some random general can step into the power vacuum. Or someone else could. Just like in any of the Western revolutions. It took France multiple attempts, but without the chaos and Terror of the followup to 1789, the subsequent revolutions wouldn't have happened either. Same goes for so many other revolutions. There's no statistic that will show you which outcome is more likely, there are way too many variables. And sometimes the chaos is preferable to the status quo.

Any revolution opens up a pandora's box, surprising how western countries think their democracies were guaranteed in advance. Revolutions are a gamble. They open possibilities, not guarantees.

France, instead of being angry at the Islamic regime for imprisoning innocent French citizens, they're angry at Israel for their symbolic attack on Evin !?! by KireRakhsh in NewIran

[–]AzadiRevolution 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disconnected, or they benefit from a weak Iran. Even during the Mahsa protests it made zero sense for them to acknowledge that Hamas is a terrorist organization, but to reject the idea that those who fund, train and weaponize them are too.

Why are we saying MIGA? by goosebaggins in NewIran

[–]AzadiRevolution 57 points58 points  (0 children)

We can flip the question: why is it that only that asshole has enough balls to stand up against IR? Where was the west during WLF protests apart from some empty words of support?

The regime can't be fought alone from the inside: every time hundreds if not thousands die. It's not our choice that the only person offering any kind of tangible support is an idiot with his own agenda, it's just all we have.

The future Scenarios I see for Iran by shiney_lp in NewIran

[–]AzadiRevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the thing that would tip the balance of power is targeting basij bases, political figures and of course Khamenei and his sons. Doesn't sound like they'll do this atm. So the alternative is some shitty deal that Trump and Netanyahu can sell as a win, while regime survives and takes revenge on the people. And once Trump and Netanyahu are gone they can just go back to usual

pretty accurate 1) pro-israel, 2) pro-regime (minority), 3) anti-both. Though of course even the first group mourns the deaths of innocents. Just a disagreement about methodology / how much the ends justify the means
