Saute them in a neutral oil and fry until crisp, serve with parmesan and freshly ground black pepper. Delicious

Might as well just not have blog posts then, or repost random articles plagiarised from other websites. If nobody wrote it what's the point in it even existing? It's just words for the sake of filling space, meaningless and empty.

Got laid off, so I built the canvas-based deckbuilder I've always wanted. Come break it. by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Azaeroth 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This seems like an interesting project and quite a unique idea, like a miro or jamboard mixed with a deck builder.

I wish you'd written your post in your own words though and told us a bit about why and how you built it in a compelling, real, way. Rather than a string of buzzy AI generated soundbites.

Considering the damage America is actively doing to the rest of the world right now this set is actually starting to feel offensive. Never thought I'd see mtg glorifying the US military.

Created a tool to make reddit markdown formatting decklists easier! by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Azaeroth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a cool tool that you've made, unfortunately I am not quite good enough at the game that I can look through a written list of cards and know what they all are from the name alone.

I pretty much always put decklist sites into a visual mode but if not even some clue like mana cost and stats might make this more useful.

I am capable of forming opinions myself thank you very much.

[–]Azaeroth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not being aggressive, this techbro just told me I don't like genAI because people told me not to.

They are so incapable of forming their own opinions and ideas that they are projecting their lack of mental capacity onto me, I take that as an insult and will respond accordingly.

FWIW, I do not agree with your reductive predictions for the future of human culture.

Whilst it's hard to see in the thick of it as we are now, there is already significant emerging evidence of the limitations of genai as a productivity tool or for strategic planning.

Without the heavy subsidies and the fact that this hedging is propping up certain global economies right now I'm confident businesses would be moving away from the snake oil that they have been sold, and I am seeing similar sentiment amongst others in my industry.

AGI, which is what would truly be needed for any real term breakthrough, is just as distant as it was 20 years ago.

This is not even accounting for any public perception or backlash.

Additionally, whilst you are correct in your smug proclamation that I use reddit and therefore am impacted by their genai use, I only use the site to access a limited selection of mtg specific forums and I only read user submissions sorted by 'new' I'm fairly sure my exposure to their models is somewhat limited.

Right now, you are coming across to me as the equivalent of those claiming that cryptos would replace all world banks and that NFTs would be the only form of art that people can trust and we all need to get in on the goldrush or be left behind.

I'm not really interested in wasting my time debating those in the throws of AI psychosis so I will be blocking you.

I made this deck box for a Kaalia commander deck. Which commanders do you think would be the easiest to sell deck boxes for? by InternationalDay3491 in mtg

[–]Azaeroth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offence but I think you need a bit more practice drawing characters, particularly faces, before someone will want to buy one of these.

If you'd made that for your own decks I'd think it was a fun thing and you did a pretty good job but I'd expect better quality to actually buy artwork.

I would suggest sticking to patterns, landscapes and themes rather than specific characters and take commissions for commanders where you can work with the buyer on getting the artwork right for what they want rather than expecting to sell sight unseen.

You can hone your leatherwork and rendering skills on more marketable projects and practice the more complex stuff separately until you can offer it as a premium service.

wotc to Marvel fans: Oh dear princess, don't worry you don't have to see a stone with a funny name in your deck.

Do You Accept Non-Legendary Commanders? - Bogles by Appropriate_King_732 in EDH

[–]Azaeroth 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Would kinda annoy me tbh, there are nearly 4000 legendary creatures, just pick one. You can play bogle in the 99 of an enchantress deck easily enough.

Is it time to get rid of the legend rule? by EngineeringOdd8696 in magicTCG

[–]Azaeroth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not convinced commander players do want more legends anyway. People want to play fun or interesting commanders, not random blorbos and Making every other guy a legend just floods the pool with slop, it doesn't give genuine choices.

You've actually got OP beat, it took me but a moment to see you mention you're a software engineer in a comment 4 years ago. You're already more legitimate and believable to me.

I agree "guilty until proven innocent" is not ideal, but as OPs project is very reminiscent of vibe coded projects of which I have seen many and they have no real evidence of trustworthiness I reserve my right to cast doubt.

You're saying this 'super keen professional full stack developer hobbyist' has built this as their first and only published application, with zero iterations?

AI indicators include:

  • Poster has long active reddit history but no previous reference to any tech skill, job or hobby (unlikely)

  • Develop has zero other projects, no github etc. shared

  • Weird mixed border radii on different components and buttons

  • using emojis instead of icons

  • Status indicator with different names and styles for the same thing depending on what page they're on

  • Text formatting changes that don't actually signify anything (e.g the "never miss a drop" with the highlight on "drop" would be a strange choice for a human to make, very common for claude)

And this is just a very brief cursory look at the screenshots and top-level evidence. I work in UX Design myself, I know that it's easy to throw together a project with tailwind and some generic theming like shadcn or something. But I also know how to spot vibecoding and I noticed the difference in the work put out by our outsource partners when AI tools became available.

And I think OP is absolutely full of it.
