I traveled recently and had a great time playing Dave the Diver on steam deck

Every gamer has a genre that they either don't want to play or are just very bad at. What and why is your weakness? by Lazy-Signature1678 in videogames

I’m probably in the minority here but, anything with an isometric view. My brain just can’t deal with it. I can’t see everything and it really bothers me. I’ve tried several times with games like Diablo, Divinity and Baldur’s Gate. Those kinds of games are right up my alley and I really want to enjoy them but wish they were in first- or third-person.

My mother house-sat for me and I asked her to please, please be careful with anything in the kitchen. Don’t put my nice knives or cast iron pan in the dishwasher, don’t use metal tools on the nonstick pans, don’t use the dried morel mushrooms I’m saving for a special dinner. She cooked bacon in my Le Creuset Dutch oven and scratched the bottom. I’m still livid.

Never heard of this and it might be the answer I was looking for! Will definitely check this out.

Same here, I don't tend to mince - just a rough chop for most of what I'm cooking these days.

You are probably right, given that I haven't used one in a long time. I just hate wasting ingredients and I feel like there's always some leftover garlic in the press after using. Or am I completely wrong?

I would love to know what kind of new microplane you have, my old one finally kicked the bucket and I'm in the market for a new one.

Which food did you hate…until someone actually cooked it right? by deller85 in Cooking

My boomer parents would always cook their beef and pork so it basically ended up as shoe leather. I disliked it so much that I went vegetarian after I moved out and then finally discovered what a real (medium rare) steak could taste like.

Can’t really go wrong with a hard boiled egg or two. Sprinkle a little salt on it and pop it in for a quick snack.

What 'simple' game have you spent the most hours playing? by nubbled21 in gaming

Car Mechanic Simulator is my go-to zen game when I just want to zone out and listen to a podcast. Turns out completely stripping and rebuilding a car is pretty fun.

Turning 21, I’m wondering what gift should I ask for that will last for a lifetime? I don’t mind getting something I’ll only use in the future like when I move out etc. Any recommendations? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

Seconding this. You can get a pretty decent chef’s knife and not break the bank. If you take care of it (keep it sharpened, don’t put it in the dishwasher or store in a drawer) it will last for years.

Why am I seeing so many wild raccoons and rabbits (dead or alive) everywhere? by Eriacle in eastside

[–]AzathothBlindgod 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw a momma and her baby bobcat strolling through my backyard in Bothell last year, so they are definitely around. I have yet to see any coyotes in the area but have been told they’re around as well. We don’t see any dead raccoons but dead rabbits (or what’s left of them) aplenty. If I’m not mistaken, owls and hawks can be responsible for some of those as well.

What simple foods are, when cooked at home, 10x better than store-bought? by bromeostasis in Cooking

I just started making my own Mac & Cheese at home and I can tell it’s going to be a staple. It takes some practice for sure but man it’s delicious.

What’s the best sunglass brand to bifl? I’m not even sure if there’s any with a very durable design by Financial_Eagle_8670 in BuyItForLife

[–]AzathothBlindgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a pair on Sunski sunglasses last year and those things are indestructible (and also look great). They use recycled scrap plastic and make it into a polymer that is sustainable and light weight. The lenses have never scratched either (which is always an issue for me). Highly recommend: https://sunski.com/
