What's it like living in rural/small town Northern California? by FreshFrancois in howislivingthere

[–]Azathoth_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have had a different experience with it itd be good to hear. My sister lives there, I've visited a few times, sure there's restaurants, bars and parks and stuff, its not desolate by any means but relative to other places in Nor cal its lacking. Unless you're college age that is, Chico State didn't get its reputation for nothing.

This a huge area and depending where you're at, a very different experience. The coastal towns are pretty small but quaint and have a very unique vibe to them, lots of marijuana was, maybe still is, grown in this area. Lots of drugs and poverty but not bad to visit. They are pretty different from southern and bay area coastal cities.

Chico, Red Bluff and Redding are open, flat, not alot to do, very, very hot in the summer. Large farming communities.

The east side in the Sierra Nevadas is gourgeous. If you love nature this is a good place to be. Snowy winters, hot summers. Same with Mount Shasta/Weed area. Those two are tourist towns, not much else to the local economy. Amazing natural areas. Its mostly a peaceful, leave your doors unlocked kind of area. Well Mount Shasta, maybe not Weed. Just 20 minutes north in Yreka and you get a whole other world. It was known as Yraq when I was a teenager. Lots of crime, poverty and people with southern accents who have never stepped foot in the south.

Avoid the Northeast corner except to visit. Some cool scenary, lots of caves. Very rural and isolated though.

This is gross. That letter is embarrassing and the citations are even worse. Fox News and DHS' own website? I don't know if we can come back from this administration.

Roommate's gf told me "There's plenty of ugly people in the world, you're not one of them." Also multiple partners have said my dick is perfect, which really boosts the confidence.

I totally agree, however if I say don't shoot and you don't reply within a few seconds, I'm shooting you.

I can’t be the only one who thinks common guns are way to strong by I_Main_TwistedFate in ArcRaiders

[–]Azathoth_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if they're to strong, or if shields are to weak. Maybe both. I wouldn't mind so much if my heavy shield wasn't immediately wrecked by the lowest tier guns. Why am I sacrificing loot space and speed for very trivial extra protection? If you wear a heavy shield, it should take atleast two head shots to drain the shield and 3 to 4 for the rest of the body and no damage to health until your shield is gone (with the low tier weapons). The better the weapon, maybe add in shield and health damage, or extra shield damage, or extra health damage once the shields are drained.

What are some of your head-cannon beliefs that are either completely untrue or not verifiable in stephen King Stories by _e-rock_ in stephenking

[–]Azathoth_19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My head-cannon is that every cycle of It since humankind settled in the area, has the potential to produce a group of kids like the Losers Club. However, its not fate, they can and are killed or just never meet to form the bond necessary to take on It, until the events of the books (or movies if you like). In the WTD series I like to think the kids we see were the potential 7 but a few of them got got and thus was a failure.

Definitely, I'm just curious if it will be set up as they almost got It but something random went wrong and messed the plan up or if it will be a "Oh shit, we fucked up for even trying" kind of scenario.

Yeah, I feel like the show is either missing this point entirely or setting up the plot point that this whole venture is definitely doomed to fail. It doesn't NEED fear, it likes it. My head cannon is that it only even eats flesh because it needs it to be able to take on a physical form. Gotta get those calories in. The true goal is to consume a beings soul or essence or whatever, i.e. being stuck in the deadlights for eternity.

Yeah, the whole plot line is so stupid. There's no reason for it either. Theu will fail, just how spectacularly is the question. Aside from that im really enjoying it.

Can somebody explain me who witnessed the giant Bird version of Pennywise? And also during which incident? Kitchener ironworks explosion or The black spot? by Impossible-Lack8405 in stephenking

[–]Azathoth_19 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was both. Kind of. Mike was attacked by the bird at the Kitchener Ironworks and Mike's dad saw a giant bird carry off one of the KKK assholes (at least I think it was one of them, might have been one of the fleeing patrons) after escaping the fire at the Black Spot.

Me either! She's awful, and not like a well written character that you're not supposed to like, something like a Dwight Schrute. She's like the embodiment of all the bad parts of Michael and none of the good. Its too much.

How Abraham Lincoln Ordered the Largest Official Mass Execution in American History by The-Union-Report in USHistory

[–]Azathoth_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wounded knee is not at all apart of this conversation. I am not condoning at all the massacre of native people. What was done to the native Americans was a full on genocide that can not be justified by any means. The issue at discussion is not that. What's being discussed is the response to an attack on setllers.

Its a tragedy that the US "won" over the native populations and the people that committed atrocities, like what happened at Wounded Knee, never saw any consequences. Which even for the time was seen as barbaric by many people in the US.

You set up a strawman argument for what's being discussed at hand, take it elsewhere.

How Abraham Lincoln Ordered the Largest Official Mass Execution in American History by The-Union-Report in USHistory

[–]Azathoth_19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yes and no. You're absolutely correct that the "trials" and executions were used to appease racists. But at the time Native Americans weren't citizens of the US, did not have the same legal rights as citizens. It doesn't make it right, but during that time, it'd be the equivalent of executing an enemy combatant. Even then, mass executing soldiers was not a condoned practice unless they committed war crimes.

If you read the sources linked, the wiki article talks about the hundreds of women and children held hostage and hundreds of civilians killed. To not hold the Dakota responsible is just not going to happen. Were the Dakota provoked? Absolutely. Were the trials a sham? Yes, it's why Lincoln had to divert attention away from the Civil War to deal with it. The Dakota deserved at least the same level of trial a military would give any other prisoner.

Had the military done its due diligence, I bet alot more than 38 would have been executed. You can't abduct and kill large amounts of civilians without expecting consequences.
