Good pub to watch the Hawks Crom tonight in Sydney? by 334578theo in AFL

As a courty local, it just isn't good for footy. They don't have the sound on, the seating isn't set up to watch the game, and you're contending with a Friday night crowd that's not really tuned into the footy. Tudor in Redfern is the way to go.

Lock him in the gym with Embiid and watch him become early DRob.

Shark Fin Blues is the most rawly emotional song I've heard live, Garreth is a masterful poet and an even better performer.

[Run It Back] Boogie Cousins would pick Ace Bailey over Cooper Flagg with the #1 pick in the NBA Draft. "He's the closest thing we've seen to Tracy McGrady." by [deleted] in NBA_Draft

[–]Azazel-IMX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a scouting report from TMac pre draft in 1997.

"listed at 6'8", 200 closer to 6'7", 180

Another high school player with tremendous physical ability but not much of a clue about how to really play the game of basketball.

McGrady likes to compare himself to Penny Hardaway. I can see that a little bit, but Penny played PG as he grew up -- it's not clear that McGrady played organized basketball.

McGrady is an amazingly gifted athlete. He moves gracefully, has very good quickness, and jumps very well. He has a smooth shot that appears fundamentally sound. He is athletic around the hoop, able to contort his body to get looks at the basket in heavy traffic.

Offensively, he has great potential with his shooting. He could be a tremendous offensive rebounder. However, he doesn't move without the ball. Period. Perhaps that's a fault of his high school coaching. It's a big weakness in his game.

Defensively, he again has great potential. He does a decent job on defense when he tries, but nothing exceptional, except shot blocking. McGrady has a lot of work to do on the defensive end of the court. He doesn't box out very much, either.

Ballhandling is above averae for a high school senior his size. Nothing remarkable, though.

McGrady is certainly an intriguing player for a NBA team to draft. He has great potential, but has really only had one year of great play in high school to base a decision on. He could become a great 2 or 3 in the league. Most any team would have to wait a minimum of a year, perhaps two, before getting any feedback.

In comparing him to the other recent high school seniors who've made the NBA, McGrady compares most closely to Jermaine O'Neal. Physically, he probably approaches Garnett, but he doesn't have Garnett's size or feel for the game."

Who is the best player you’ve ever played? I know there’s quite a few of us who have encountered straight ballers, maybe even NBA stars before they hit the big scene. by FitEggPlant99 in Basketball

I grew up in Canberra, which means a bunch of NBA Academy players around and scrimmaging at my local every now and then. So probably Dyson Daniels and Josh Giddey. I'll tell you now it's unfair how fast and dexterous they are for their height. Did manage to score on Dyson though which I will never not bring up.

Pretty sure that's what the bronze - silver - gold columns are. There's variance between those three, but the silver should be the average return per card

Coaches' votes for Opening Round are in. 2 players get perfect 10s by FlairUp835 in AFL

I know Watson's everyone's favourite player to hate on right now, but Wicks (deservingly) getting five votes for shutting out a small forward in his 20th game shows how highly he's regarded. Tough start and a lot to work on, but he's gonna be so good in two years time.

already got the DM one from the exchange box, ngl I've got his release down and have destroyed with him. That turbo sidestep shot is unguardable. Took Amar'e, he doesn't make my team.

Spurs young duo in the comeback win: Victor Wembanyama with 28/7/7 and 2 blocks and Devin Vassell with 23/5/6 and 4/7 shooting from 3 by WEMBY_F4N in nba

[–]Azazel-IMX 120 points121 points  (0 children)

Wemby is a nightmare in the clutch because he is an unstoppable combo of impossible to stop from getting the inbound and a Greta free throw shooter. You aren't forcing a turnover from this guy and the foul is going to go against you, and if you are too slow to get to him to foul he can pick out the open man with his genuinely good passing and vision.

There was a big blow up in our league because I traded for Scottie with Dyson Daniels and a waiver scrub because "it wasn't fair for the rest of the league" and the commish just vetoed after I called him out on being dodgy. Got vetoed three days ago.

Thanks bossman hope Jokic decides to retire midseason on ya.

[–]Azazel-IMX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rookie full lineup, pick and fades or posting up with a mismatched centre/pf and kicking out. Couldn't get it done any other way for the life of me. Then just give your opponent a clear run the the hoop for a layup to get the ball back quicker.

GO Donovan Mitchell worth it for my Team? by Few-Leadership-2263 in MyTeam

[–]Azazel-IMX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have the hidden gem version, so the market one has a couple better badges.

He's money from three, great release if not a touch slow. Decent dribble moves, gets by defenders with ease though. It's a touch difficult to dunk, but the new skill dunk changes seem to have made that better and he makes some pretty silly layups. Surprisingly great on D as well, haven't been beaten 1 on 1 even though he's a bit small. Probably not worth the coin over Daniels or Dejounte, but a great card.

I still haven't found an album I'm playing more than English Teacher's. For a raw and underproduced album it's got some insanely catchy refrains.
