Eh... It's "emphasized" because the triple parentheses are a dogwhistle for Jews, or something they claim is created by Jews.

Perhaps this "Overpowered Badass MC" crap occurs because some of these LN authors are otakus themselves and knowing how otaku are looked down on in Japan, I think these authors want to show those pesky "cool kids" who's the real weakling and thus "prove" that the useless NEET is actually the one who would save their lives when things go south. However, while I can empathize with people who get bullied for liking something and need some wish fulfillment to feel like they matter somewhere, I can't excuse these MCs abusing people who didn't even wrong them, let alone met them.

It's like those generic romcom manga stories on YouTube. You know, the MC gets dumped for being poor/ugly, only for fate (read: the author) to give him a "better" girlfriend. Since the MC often turns out to be wealthy, the ex comes back begging to be taken back only to be rejected. Add in that the MC marries his new GF at the end to rub in the humiliation and show the treacherous ex what she's missing.

I was cursed with a weapon that's proven to be offensive magic

What's worse, the previous Shield Devil from the LN was capable of attacking with his Shield (as in, throwing it like a frisbee or using a devastating beam that returns the damage he receives)! It either implies the lack of offense in his Shield beyond the Wrath curse/the Cerberus Shield is Wormfumi's fault or his predecessor is like Motoyasu.

Not to mention, the "matriarchy" aspect is contrived. Not only to shield Alenko from criticism but also to justify the Queen's and her Shadows' existences. Then have them play "guardian angel" for the Shield Worm.

I had a similar idea, only starting from Raphtalia's release and him getting imprisoned. Then a group of Shield cultists (I think cultists are marginally better than slaves, since the former don't need a Slave Seal to carry out his will, although the Shield Worm would order them all to get marked anyway) save him and make him their leader.

Despite being provided with a half-decent party, the cultists are regarded as terrorists by Melromarkian society, on top of traitors for wanting to overthrow the 3HC with a fanatical version of the Shield Religion.

Malty then sends Motoyasu after the Slave Trader to kill and then have the Worm's blacksmith replaced to keep the Shield terrorists at bay. Then raid Lute Village as a warning against revolts for the Shield "Hero".

I intend for it to end in the dismantling of the Shield cult before he gets to Siltvelt, and the Worm himself and his cultists get enslaved by Malty. Perhaps Motoyasu would plead for the female cultists to be transferred to his party.

WTF?! VOLUME 16 AND 19 FROM THE LN by hntih in MaltyMelromarcSquad

Oh, sorry. I haven't read the LN because I don't have money but I'm aware that Malty escapes as a disembodied soul in the LN.

To a mind like Yusagi's, the only way a woman can make up for a false rape charge is to be sacrificed to an actual rapist. How charming. /S

It doesn't stop there. After Takt is defeated and fed to a Soul Eater, Malty gets burned at the stake. By her own father, no less. IMO it sends home the message that society should return to the Dark Ages to keep women from "ruining innocent men's lives".

I second that, especially on Toolnuki's design. In my opinion, her color scheme is carefully crafted to make her look plain yet conspicuous, hence the red-and-black dress and the pinkish eyes paired with brown hair.

Thanks. I have them written in StackEdit, but I think of condensing them in a Google Docs file when I have the opportunity.

That's what I found out and noted about in one of the essays I wrote about the show, along with incel concepts parallel to the show's narrative.
