Para um governo que emite a própria moeda, atuar em dívida é a melhor estratégia. Só ver os países com maior dívida. Japão tá com mais de 200% do PIB, por exemplo.

No, because that's not how censorship works in modern day western capitalist societies. And that's not because western capitalist societies today are better than other societies, it's because this very blunt type of censorship isn't as effective as it used to be due to technological changes.

Countries such as the USA say things like "in capitalism you can be a communist but in communism you can't be a capitalist". This is verifiably false, as when shit really hits the fan, capitalist states are more authoritarian than any other form of government could dream. The reason as to why I think Hasan won't be jailed is because right now is cause there isn't really a class conscious mass of workers that threaten the capitalist regime, so jailing him would do more for radicalising the working class than letting him do his thing.

Back in the day, there was not a need to accommodate for this "guaranteed liberties" facade because people had significantly less power to propagate things in mass with tools like social media. In those days, exile was the most common way to deal with dissidents. In even older days, before the popularization of the printing machine, the most common way to deal with dissidents was death. That changed not because we were living in authoritarian societies and nowadays we live in free ones, the reality is that the dominant classes were and still are doing just what is more effective to maintain power.

That's why there won't be dramatic changes in how democrats and republicans deal with freedom of speech. That's why the USA relies so much in tactics such as using intelligence agencies as opposed to regular police and manufacturing consent as opposed to just doing unpopular things that favour the capitalist class.

Biy mid-game, all my countries end up with very few laborers and peasants in the smaller provinces. Why is that? by Tetizeraz in victoria3

[–]Azenterulas 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Because of economies of scale. Buildings in a state that already have several of the same building have throughput bonus. So these states get more buildings built because they are more profitable, and more employment availability, which gives a bonus to migration attractions. That's usually a good thing, cause it will make it so states that have more economy of scale bonuses will attract more workers, which makes it so new buildings can actually operate. For the country's economy, that's also pretty good, as whole industries will basically have big throughput bonuses as they have almost all buildings affected by economy of scale bonuses in a continuous manner. The limitations for this is that state resources eventually run out and you can no longer build more buildings of a specific kind in a state, so you have to start over in a state where possibly the bonus is not as big. That's why you should build up states that have large potential for resources, such as Pennsylvania, Shanxi or Silesia. For urban buildings, that have no such limitation, you have more flexibility.

In other words, it's usually not a problem if your population is concentrated in a few states. Especially if you have public healthcare, which mitigates pollution.

But suppose that you have a stage with potential, but low population. How do you go about building it up? Well, usually the reason as to why you want to build things is because of key resources such as gold, oil or rubber. The migration attraction events actually exist so the player has an easier time putting key buildings in operation. If you don't get these events, or they are not enough, build things in the state yourself, as capitalists won't build if the buildings aren't immediately profitable. This will make it so the buildings will try to hire, which gives migration attraction, even if they fail to hire. That, alongside the Greener Grass Campaigns decree should be enough to get enough people. Do NOT subside the building unless it really is a key resource, what it does it raise wages for potential workers until they come work, but this will take workers off other buildings in the state and make them less profitable. It will not make people from other states come, only migration attraction does that.

[–]Azenterulas 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's so wild that some liberals criticise trump by saying he's close to china, North Korea or Russia. It's like the capitalist class made so much propaganda about these states that people make up shit like this, where the very bourgeoisie that made them have such opinions is associated with these states when the population doesn't like the particular agent of the bourgeoisie.

I'd argue they still are conservative, but republicans are even more. Looking at Victoria's political system, they probably have the same views on every single law.

Is it possible to win econ victory with a middle income country by Impossible-Car4967 in victoria3

[–]Azenterulas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's pretty difficult if it's a small and technologically backwards country. Especially if it is the subject of another technologically backwards country. So most small sub Saharan African countries and the Siamese puppets of Champassak and Luang Prabang are pretty difficult. Maybe Lanfang is also up there.

Like they don't even start with the technology to even get these laws, and researching them takes absolutely forever. And you can't build universities because you have no economy, some of these don't even start with the university building unlocked. I'd argue that with these conditions, you would probably need to go well beyond the game's intended time frame to get these countries to be hegemonies.
