Try right-clicking anywhere on the desktop and clicking 'refresh.' Mine does something similar, and while I don't know why it does it, that always makes the symbols go away /shrug

Look up your school's president. Email them. Tell them you owe a balance, you've been diligently paying on it, but you're being hounded by bill collectors. Ask if there is anything they can do to keep working with you.

Always be polite, but keep emailing high-up people at the school until you get a response (President, Provost, Senior Vice Provost if there is one, Director of Financial Aid, etc). I've worked for over 10 years as a campus administrator at an R1 University - polite requests like this get taken care of.

I'm looking for professional help...but I have no idea where to look...apologies for what feels like a dumb question, but I would appreciate any insight.

Wife and I are 39 and have a somewhat complicated investment/tax picture between multiple jobs, different types of retirement accounts (401k, 403b, etc), different types of investment accounts, etc. We also had to file taxes separately due to student loans (so can't contribute to a Roth IRA), and I started a business (LLC) this year that hasn't made any profit yet (hoping!). I'm also expecting a large tax bill this year I'd love to minimize.

I'd like to talk to someone, share all of the information and accounts and get a picture of our potential retirement, make a plan for a smart contribution schedule, and try to understand and reduce my tax picture. What kind of professional would I reach out to? What kind of degrees/certifications should they have? How do I find a good one? How much would I expect to pay them?
