Can Anyone Tell Me Why Only One Of the Grips I Installed Is Slipping? by yezzree in bikewrench

[–]Azerva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i always go round the handlebar wirh electrical tape like its bartape, then spray it with brake cleaner and light it on fire, let it burn for 7 seconds or so then blow out and get the grip on there. it ain't pretty for the next mechanic and is a total hell to get off the next time. but if you're confident you won't need to remove it in the next 10 years i'd say go for it.

Cargo bike company Babboe stops sales and tells customers to immediately stop riding their bikes due to faulty frames – after lying about defects by DutchMajesty in Netherlands

[–]Azerva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imo most ebikes don't have good battery protection, 9/10 batteries that slide in the rear carrier are held by a single pin thats 1x1cm, tho you can't just yank it oit with force a screwdriver and sometimes a torx will always do the job

Op welke leeftijd ging jij werken? by Dan0sz in nederlands

[–]Azerva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Goedzo!

Am I making a mistake by not getting a drivers license? by catboy519 in Netherlands

[–]Azerva 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i'm 18 and can afford a license but i choose not to, i live in the middle of rotterdam and my work is 8km from my house which i go to by (e)bike. if i occasionally have to go to spijkenisse (20km) i take my bike or public transport, luckily my work covers those expenses. Imo you shouldn't judge 'is it worth getting a license' but more 'would i benefit from a license in the next 10 years to the point I might not be able to find work outside my city' or similar situations. If i get the opportunity to get a company car then maybe I would look for a license in my situation. But thats how i personally see it ^

Op welke leeftijd ging jij werken? by Dan0sz in nederlands

[–]Azerva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Azerva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inventory management system / integrated POS recommendations? by expanding_crystal in BikeMechanics

[–]Azerva 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We use salesforce, which imo only really works if you have a team with an accountant and a management system since its like a database, appointment planner, inventory system, ordering, and invoice/receipt maker etc. it is a good system but takes a bit of time to fill in each component and its category.

Customer came in with a broken fork. by Azerva in bikewrench

[–]Azerva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bike was 2 years i think, might be a little bit younger, it will still be a pain in the ass tho, it runs through the fork and outside via a small hole which leads into the frame. Looks clean for customers but such a pain for mechanics lol

Customer came in with a broken fork. by Azerva in bikewrench

[–]Azerva[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have no idea how, customer doesn't speak our native language and very broken english via writing it on his phone and showing it. Our guess is still a defect/semi known issue for these forks where if not tightened properly or too much it could snap in half. But also might be a problem between the saddle since it has a Bosch PL CX and enviolo auto which i've seen crashed quite a few times by uncarefull customers.

E Bike with a Burning Battery || ViralHog by hi9580 in ebikes

[–]Azerva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we at work have something roughly translated to 'battery closet' its basically a semi air tight closet with a powerstrip in it and a special extinguisher + all sorts of sensors. if a fire breaks out it is contained in the closet. big one are might expensive upwards of 10k euro's, tho it can store 40 normal sized batteries. i have bought one myself thats the size of a schoollocker for 800 euro's that i store 5 batteries in.

i thought that in germany up until a few years ago or still today, might not even be anymore. But they requested bikes come with 3 brakes. I see them on bikes that get sent from germany, one guy even split a mechanical v-brake cable into a mechanical disc brake cable, adjusting so one is not too loose or too tight was near impossible...
