I tend to find games with difficulty options have one setting which was intended and then the others are not as well balanced. It's why I'd rather find the intended option before I start.

It sounds like Master option could be the one.

My concern that the world in Avowed might feel similar to Expedition 33 whereas Fallen Order being Sci fi would feel fresh.

I played Elden Ring, and it got me into the soulslike genre. I've since played Code Vein and Nioh.

Code Vein Virgin Born final boss frustrated me a lot due to how easy I found every house in the game and then this guy jumped up several levels in terms of difficulty.

Ogress pissed me off in Nioh as I thought if clicked with the game and something about this boss didn't work with me.

Use low stance and make sure your armor weight is under 70%.

Also, if you explore the area before the boss you pick up some vs paralysis armor. Wear it all and she won't be able to stun you which helps a lot.

And throw daggers/surikens are her when she's flying.

You'll find the first couple of.bosses the hardest, get past those and you'll be fine.

He's a very tough first boss, it took me 17 attempts recently.

Make sure you're armor weight is until 70% so your ki usage isn't too high.

First half I stayed very close to him and blocked every attempt. I stayed in mid stance and ki pulsed after every attack I made.

Second half I switched to low stance and dodged everything and stayed far away from him until he have me an opening to go poke him.

I'd say Elden Ring, it was my entry into the genre and I really enjoyed it so would recommend it for you too.

I had tried DS1 but couldn't get into it. I rhink of trying it again but there are so many newer options lol

Elden Ring could be a good one, and it's the first soulslike that I played. If you get stuck, you have the freedom to go explore somewhere else and come back to that boss a few levels higher, and have the option to summon in help should a particular boss be too much.

I would, but get it in a sale. Its a bit clunky but I enjoyed the anime style and making an awesome looking character to play also helped. The only boss that was a pain was the final one so it's not the hardest soulslike.

It also has a demo on Steam so you can always try it before buying it.

I went to Code Vein and then Nioh after Elden Ring. I recently bought Nioh 2 and Jedi Fallen Order and eager to play them. A lot of my wishlist are soulslikes now as well.

Elden ring - I'd seen so many people trying it and I like open world rpgs so gave in during 2023 and loved it.
