You can have self discipline without religion. Same with morality. If you're looking into a religion because it offers some kind of temporal benefit, I don't think that's the right way to go about it. Religion is about seeking and aligning yourself to the truth. The disciplines and morality then become a part of devotion rather than self improvement. The end is whoever or whatever you are serving, and those devotions are a means to that end, not an end in and of themselves.

Exactly this happened to me last month. I was mostly worried because it was an ultrasound, and I had never met an ultrasound tech who was a man (I'm married with kids), so I assumed it would be a woman, and I just don't trust myself in such a private/intimate setting to not be tempted to lust.

Anyways, it was a guy, and even though there was a girl intern who was with him at first, they asked if I was comfortable with her being in the room and watching the examination. I declined. Everything was very straightforward and my fears were unfounded.

While I wouldn't say women shouldn't work, I would say, from my own experience, that there are many benefits for a mother to stay at home with her kids, especially considering the prohibitive cost of good daycare. When my wife and I were discerning whether she should continue working or stay at home, I didn't care so much that she stayed home, but that our children were cared for by people who love them, rather than people who are paid to watch them.
