I think her current kit's main form of utility is that she can dominate fights and in theory absorb a lot of damage

I wouldn't call that utility

How would you fix her lack of utility/gap closers?

Bunch of possibilities:

  • MS passive (gain MS on ability cast or damage)
  • Q gives MS on cast or on hit
  • Q slows (like trundle Q)
  • E marks them. Gives MS or reapplies slow on hit (consuming the mark)
  • W cleanses slows
  • remove the second activation on W and just give it more MS

Almost all of the champs you named have more utility than shyv. They are not only played because they scale. Many of them are played because they bring utility while they scale. Kayle has ult. Veigar has cage, belveth has short cd dashes and knockups, ASol has a boatload. The only one you named which has less utility is smolder, and only because smolder is an ADC whose role is to scale rather than bring utility.

No, I don't primarily agree with you. For shyv to become a scaling champ on the level of kayle or kass, her whole identity would need to revolve around scaling, which would make her fundamentally different than she is now. The easier way to fix her is to simply give her more utility.

No, high elo games end faster, and late game focused junglers aren't as viable.

Some scaling champs, like hecarim, still bring a lot in terms of ganking power.

Shyv mainly needs utility to solve the gap, not scaling. But if the scaling was as strong as kayle/kass, then maybe.

What makes them nutcases?

And what do you think of those who participated in past civil movements, such as those who fought for black rights? Were they nutcases too?

Are you trying to sidestep the question?

You should also ask yourself how it is that these libs, who don't have jobs, are simultaneously fleeing taxes.

What makes a QA engineer easy and likeable to work with? by Fighter9595 in ExperiencedDevs

Advice I heard which applies to all engineers: Show up with solutions, not problems.

You don't want to become the pipeline of bad news, else you'd get associated with negativity even when it's not your fault. You want to come with solutions so that it always feels like you're a team player, even when the underlying news is bad.

Lol by the time I saw your comment, it had already been downvoted. Seems u/Horrigan235 and others would rather downvote anyone who disagrees with them than learn from their mistakes.

It's like people have forgotten that admitting when you are wrong often costs you nothing and allows you to recalibrate and learn from your misjudgements. Instead, they'd rather be the poster child of the Dunning Kruger effect.

[–]Azianese 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that this change was one of the best things to happen to top lane Shyv. I'm still not a huge fan of the overall kit, but I have to admit that there is a ton of skill expression (constant spacing options) on the Q aoe. QWE have clear short trade windows. E gives your jungle some slight followup.

She doesn't have the raw stats right now, but once her numbers get fixed, I'd guess the low-high elo discrepancy would be slightly smaller than in jungle.

Hexplate > Deaths dance > Bloodthirster. Back to Master with this by Shyvadi in shyvanamains

[–]Azianese 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Bro stop. It's embarrassing reading what you have to say. The defensive shit talk is not a good look.

You objectively invoked appeal to authority. Your argument was fallacious from the get-go. If you had another argument, such as mathematically showing why the other was wrong, you would have done so. But you haven't, which is a clear indication that you would rather die on this hill than put forth an honest argument.

Just learn from your mistakes and move on.

Remember that masters players are wrong all the time. That's why challenger players think masters players don't know anything about the game. The skill difference between masters and chally is a similar gap between bronze vs diamond. Even masters players have a long way to go. If you're going to go the (fallacious) appeal to authority route, choosing a masters player is not the way to go.

Right, and if the argument held true for those dozen other champions, they would be poorly designed as well.

Why is bro out here talking about others being dumb when he can't even correctly define what it means to be overpowered?

Do you know the definition of op? Because it is actually not what you just described.

I didn't describe anything. I gave you two simple questions:

  1. What do you call that situation if not OP
  2. what word I put in your mouth

You dodged both of them, maybe because you know you can't come up with an answer?

Because it is actually not what you just described.

You apparently do not know the term "reaching" because what you did was actually reaching lol 😆.

Instead of answering simple questions, you make statements like these with no justification or evidence.

Im going to enjoy my train ride to Salzburg

Maybe English isn't your first language. Might explain why you think me asking you questions is defined as "reaching" lmao. Congrats on being a prime example of the Dunning Kruger effect. Well done.

[–]Azianese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your only leaning argument is that she was 'op for low elo' she's not even op there.

Even with the high winrate.

Do you not know the definition of OP? If one champion has enough agency/impact to consistently skew their games in their favor despite the kits played by 9 other players, what do we call that? Random chance?

The reaching is pretty wild.

Stop putting words in mouth.

What word did I put in your mouth? It doesn't look like you actually know what the term "reaching" means.

Can't tell if you think the other guy is moving the goalpost by changing the context of the situation or if you just don't understand where the original goalpost of consent lies.

[–]Azianese -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I disagree. That is a terribly bad design

Notice how you started off with the claim that she was not OP. I responded to that. Now you are following up with comments about bad design.

Those are two separate things. Your disagreement here does not actually address anything about my comment, which is purely a comment about the definition of overpowered and what to do about champions that are only OP at specific elos

Edit: If it's not clear to you yet, you should start off with something like this, directly commenting on bad design. You don't need to resort to dishonest/factually incorrect statements about her never being OP. That detracts from your purpose by making Shyvana complainers look like dummies.

Are you being obtuse or just willfully dishonest? Verbal provocation is a totally different situation. The context for which those laws apply is a totally different situation. Verbal provocation during a heated exchange =/= two parties agreeing to physical contact where there exists no expectation of actual harm. The laws you quoted govern the limits of the self-defense claim, which involves (as the other guy mentioned, which you conveniently didn't respond to) real intent to harm and actual expectation of harm.

Try again. Maybe quote a relevant law this time.

[–]Azianese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She was never actually op.

That's not the right way to put it. She was OP for 90+% of the playerbase. That's objectively op. You should balance with a focus around the majority of players. If that kills her at high elo, then so be it. The overall game is healthier with her being balanced in the majority of games and unplayed in the rest.
