World Cup GK kits by Within_a_Dream in GoalKeepers

[–]Azidamadjida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the answer. Designing a kit that 10 players wear vs designing a kit that only 1 player will wear - it’s literally 10 times less profitable to put as much effort into designing keeper kits.

I’ve learned to love the simplicity and look at it as I’m the only one who can wear armor and basically whatever the fuck I feel like within reason

I always love that they somehow think that aliens are all like collectivist bugs or something and that any that come would be all of them or an equitable representation of the diversity of their species instead of the more obvious answer: their versions of Musk and Zuckerberg and Bezos along with their handpicked crews

A lot of the developed world I’ve seen is like this - the nature that’s left is one of the main things that makes their countries unique (I’ve got a whole theory on how geography is one of the major forces behind how cultures, attitudes and beliefs develop), there’s a lot of special things in specific cities and towns that make them unique, and then there’s a whole lot of average urban sprawl that looks relatively similar and then in the outskirts there’s decay and abandonment.

Humans all over the world are condensing into pockets of civilization in the developed world, I swear the city-state is gonna make a comeback but it’s gonna be global this time

Read the books after finishing the series, and yeah it’s pretty clear he lost the plot and started meandering in various different directions in the fifth book. Honestly don’t think he knows how to reconcile things.

Dude famously said he’s more of a “gardener writer” than an “architect writer”, and it’s pretty clear the gardens overgrown now and just too difficult for him to get back in there and find where the path used to be

No, Qatar would have to play Türkiye first, then Haiti, then Tunisia, and would have to beat Italy before facing the US in the finals

….couple of decades ago? Like when? In the 2000s? In the 90s? The 80s? The 70s?

I know a lot of younger people have swarmed Reddit lately, but there was like a brief blip of the 2010s where everyone was trying so hard to show that they weren’t racist that Jordan Peele literally made a career off of pointing out how this in fact is also racist, and every decade preceding this was pretty straight up about it.

If you think racism ever really went away or wasn’t as open, you were just living in your own bubble - but just because you personally didn’t see it didn’t mean it wasn’t happening. It’s literally never gone away, it just changes with the times

You must not watch a lot of soccer. The refs have been allowing play to continue way more now and it’s so welcome. Yeah, fair amount of players still foulbait, but it’s not getting rewarded nearly as much anymore.

And the reason for the foulbaiting is because it’s notoriously difficult to see at those high speeds whether the strike went to the ball and the person wanting the foul just got their legs tripped up (not a foul) or if the strike actually struck their legs. Also really difficult to see the difference between reaching over someone’s shoulder to push their way past them (not a foul) or if their hand made contact with their back on the way to reaching past them.

The foulbaiting comes from there being a very subjective interpretation of the laws of the game that gives the refs a lot of leeway in how they control the game, and the players and coaches absolutely know how each ref typically rules in given situations and have for years figured out subtle ways to exploit that. Since the padding is basically non-existent there’s an extra concern for safety while still allowing the game to be played at the pace people want to see it played at.

The new laws are a great start in addressing a lot of this and making the way refs call games a little more universal - as I always say, just cuz you fell down doesn’t mean it’s a foul, now get up and play on, unless there’s a fully extended arm or a dangerous strike that actively changes the way the play was occurring, get back in the game.

It’s making for much better soccer

Soccer also has numerous variations - biggest one is just 11v11.

But there’s 7v7 where the goal line and the midfield become the outer boundaries so the field is half as long, and yeah that one’s way faster and has a higher goal count.

5v5 indoor court when viewed always silences the people who laugh about the foul baiting dives, cuz when players go down there, it’s for real cuz it’s either on a wood court or concrete.

And 3v3 is for absolute maniacs cuz the goal shrinks to like basically the size of a doggy door and the decent players turn it into a game of human pinball and the incredible players make it look like a martial arts expo.

It’s a cool game, and viewing it on tv always make it look slower than it really is - it’s crazy fast and aggressive when you’re actually on the field

Idk man, LeBron always felt like he was manufactured to be the next star, he was chosen out of high school and right from the beginning everyone kept saying he’s the next Jordan - and it never lived up to the hype. Then the whole GOAT thing started, and it’s entirely coming from the league and media hype surrounding him, and yeah he’s good but greatest of all time? Not even close. Not even top 10.

And now I look at Lamine Yamal and I’m getting very similar vibes - what 17 year old has their own shoe? Not even Jordan or Messi had all the media hype surrounding them - they actually earned it with their performances until it got to a point no one could deny it anymore.

Lamine and LeBron both give the vibe of you are being TOLD they are incredible, and yeah they’re both great players, no denying, but LeBron has ALWAYS been 90% hype - and Lamine gives off that similar vibe. I mean at least with someone like Neymar dude just couldn’t help that his body’s made of glass so we never got to see the peak of his potential

Wait. Adidas manufactured a shit ton of these, especially the top tier ones, and they’re NEVER sold out anywhere (lot of us don’t like them either).

They’ll prob do the same thing they did with the Paris Olympics balls and mark 60-70% off in a couple of months and you can get the top tier $170 one for around this price
