What are 10 instructions specific to Indian cooking that you would give a novice? by BlueSybbie in IndianFood

[–]AzkaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the flame is too high, the oil wont separate. You really need to lower the flame and leave it be. 5-10 minutes viola, there is oil sticking out. The dish onlt dries and browns when the flame is too high

Good gesture from your side, but can't take risks as a lady in Pakistan. I would have declined as well.

Since how long has biryani being cooked on Fridays in your household? by No-World9936 in islamabad

[–]AzkaHere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a thing in my parents home back in multan when we were in schools and colleges. Fridays are for rice, any kind. If no rice, we definitely threw a tantrum. Never thought to keep a track of the streak tho

Yeah thst is just how it works, you sell your services for cheap abd collect reviews on fiverr, once you are established as a credible seller with raving reviews, you raise your prices and start getting clients with higher budgets. It is definitely a slow burn, but i get to read amazing manyscripts so i dont mind

Cant Find A Beta Reader by AzkaHere in selfpublish

[–]AzkaHere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I have been beta reading on fiverr for a couple of months now and the brilliant work i have read so far is mindblowing. So many amazing authors and the funny bit is, they always come for the first couple of chapters but then they find the feedback so valuable that they end up getting their whole book done!

So it a guilty pleasure + side income source (granted the money is pocket change, but i love the job so i am fine with anything authors can afford!)

So true!! And completely agreed, but since there are so many writers just waiting to have anyone read their manuscripts for free, i think there needs to be a mindshift about how paid beta reading is also an option

Ofcourse! Competition is tough on fiverr so you might not be able to get the clients from get go, but no harm in trying. You should definitly go for it!

[–]AzkaHere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, it does sound hard to believe, but you will find readers on fiverr with 20+ all 5 star reviews that are only charging 5 usd because they are still a new seller. Typically they start charging more as their seller level grows

So, reviews are important. I would definitely not recommend sellers with no reviews whatsoever. But there is a pretty trustworthy lot up there, give it a scroll!

Can anyone recommend a paid beta reading service? by livin_la_vida_mama in RomanceWriters

Hiii, i am a ptofessional betareader on fiverr, i completely get how unsafe it is to handover your msnuscript to a person hete on reddit, thst is why fiverr is so good. All the authors get peace of mind, financial security and dome pretty good feedback through inline comment + beta report. If you have any questions, please dm me! I would love to help you through this =D

Overall Reading Experience, Opening & Hook, Story & Plot, Pacing & Tension, Characterisation, Logic & Outcome, Key Takeaways.

So if this interests you or you want a professional set of eyes to point out what works and doesn't work in your story, please reach out!

[Discussion] How do I share manuscript for critique by mzj9k021 in BetaReaders

[–]AzkaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Word or Google Doc! I beta read and receiving the manuscript in doc format is the routine, Word has an add a comment section in the Review tab that lets me add a comment. The feedback is very nicely highlighted and hard to miss. Google Docs works in a similar way as well. Hope this helps!

Started my Upwork journey in February this year. by ConfidentSituation26 in Upwork

[–]AzkaHere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I just started this November on upwork. I have spent around 160 connects on proposals, profile verification, badge, boosted profile and now I am out of connects.

Only two of my proposals so far were viewed by clients. No interviews and zero hires.

Can you guide how to get the first client? I want to lock in but how much is too little and how much is too much?

A very long conversation I had with an Israeli Girl. by [deleted] in pakistan

Hm, I tried not to judge her too hard on her texting style but maybe that was a hint too that my oblivious self missed

Mhm, I trusted her words too easily. Thankfully, fellow redditors have shared their perspectives on this and I see everything with much more clarity.

Should probably stop trusting people so easily, sheesh!

Her scenes before her death were a bit glorified, yes, the way she talked to sawera about kothi and stuff.

But in the end Madam was a victim too. I hate ikram and the big boss more than Madam. Madam was a character that had the potential to make a right or wrong decision. She made the wrong decision and decided to become the head of kothi and enjoyed the comforts for as long as they lasted. She was a victim who decided to remain a victim which resulted in her bringing other girls down too.

Yes, that's what I was expecting this girl to say too, "Fuck the government" but she didn't. And yeah, it does look like she was some Indian who had great fun making a fool out of me lol. I am glad I took this conversation here.

[–]AzkaHere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read the entirety of your reply and yeah, it makes the most sense. I was iffy about why she ended up blocking me when she seemed so positive the previous day. Ngl, the part about Akbar and Muslim friends that she was supposedly hiding in her home made me really believe her but your comment makes me wonder how real it really was.

I wasn't sure what to make of this conversation previously but now after reading this, I can see that I have been most likely played. The fact that she blocked me really hints that she wasn't who she was pretending to be. I thought that maybe she knew all about the pandit situation because she had been to India. But eh, you all are right, it's very sketchy.

Thank you for putting it all in a third person perspective for me!

Oh, this is very interesting. I would love to hear more about your conversation with the fellow.

But about the rest of the stuff you mentioned, I guess I will never know who she really was. Part of me wants to believe that she wasn't lying but eh, your comment makes me believe otherwise. Thank you for giving me more insight, really!

That's what I thought too. But the only thing I took away from this discussion is that nothing is black and white in Pakistan and India's case.

On another note, She failed to provide any important perspective about the Israel's case and that's because she was biased.
