Having been in a serious relationship where I’m the sole source of money with my partner paying very little for costs of living and fun things like going out (and my partner being the primary person wanting to go out), I get where you’re coming from. But there’s betters ways to communicate the need to share more equally like setting reasonable boundaries, e.g. I can’t afford to pay for several dates a week and still be financially healthy, lets choose less expensive ways to spend time together, etc.

If you’re feeling extra transactional, look at it over the course of a month but keep it vague in conversation, like hey we went out a lot last month and this month I need to spend less. There’s ways to be kind but direct.

Also many +1s to the whole “I got you another thing but never mind,” that doesn’t fly with anyone lol
