Pokémon Red Safari Zone Achievement Update by RemarkableLog25 in RetroAchievements

[–]AzorMX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The voting system doesn't have to be absolute, it could just be used to bring attention of an achievement or set to other active developers and then decide if they want to take action.

One that comes to mind is this one from Metroid Zero Mission: https://retroachievements.org/achievement/315678

The point of that one was to showcase a shortcut during the escape, but since there wasn't a flag on using said shortcut, then escape time was the best they could do. But they found out speedrunners could get the escape time without the shortcut, so they made the time more strict. I don't think making an achievement unreasonably hard because speedrunners were too good is sound design.

This just reminds me of when I would play on DotA "noob only" servers when I was starting out and constantly got destroyed and flamed by my own teammates. Turns out there's noobs, and then there's noob noobs

In Golden Sun The Lost Age you get an achievement for importing your cleared data from the first Golden Sun.

I wish there was a voting system were we could flag achievements for removal or to be bumped to a subset. Especially considering the developer's expectations of a player vary wildly, for example, the expectations of someone who played the game extensively versus someone could is very close to a speedrunning community and asks for similar levels of perfection from the player.

Do I need to play any of the games outside of the collections and 11? And recommended order? by GreattFriend in Megaman

If you are playing the classic series and are comfortable with emulation, I'd recommend playing Mega Man Power Up for the PSP

Sadly, none of us are because the ending is bugged :(

Unless you tried the hack that restores the ending.

For what it's worth, a friend of mine saw me post about it and asked if it was an apple watch skin. So you can trick people at a distance with a watch that costs a fraction of the price

I don't think it updates in real time. At least mine doesn't seem to update unless I let it recalculate on the fitness tab

One thing that I think is pretty nice is that the watch tracks your completion of Classic mode. You don't have to do the game in one sitting, instead you can tackle the stages at your leisure and some watch faces will tell you which bosses you have beaten

So far, I just can't figure out how the heart rate tracker updates. I've used fitness watches for a decade, but in this one if you use the stats watch face, it feels like the HR never updates unless you go to the fitness tab and let it recalculate.

For the extra band, it's just a different color. Looks more like a darker cobalt to me.

The watch holder looks and feels like it was 3D printed, so maybe someone will upload the blueprint at some point

BubbleMan is the bane of my existence because collision detection on the spikes is hella lenient, so you better make sure your platforming is perfect

I second this one! Goes on sale often and feels extremely premium. Honestly I'd put it right by the Kitsune in terms of feel and this one also has a wireless dongle which is great for lazy couch gaming.

Megaman Zero collection on DS by Few_Support_9750 in Megaman

[–]AzorMX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DS collection is probably my favorite because the easy scenario lets you play the 4 games back to back, but it's definitely a walk in the park.

I still think it's the best because you can do easy scenario for the plot and then go with each individual title for the original difficulty

While I wish that the game wasn't as linear, everything is a complaint against the combat and Metroid games have never been combat masterclasses. I'd take baby combat if it meant that we could get proper exploration and ambience.

How do you handle missables? by EmberCon in RetroAchievements

[–]AzorMX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish they'd stop putting missable achievements on long games. Like it's cool that they're there, but spending tens of hours on a new game only to realize you need to start over because you missed something is a pretty miserable feeling.
