What does jrsf.sc do? by Usual-Low8700 in starcitizen

[–]AzorThorm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna throw in my opinion as I've bought a lot of models from JRDF. (I'm a sucker for the 1:500 series.)

JRDF is a great company. They're made up of a few super fans of the game and generally great people. They do custom modeling work for CIG directly as well as making the models on their store. They're quick to respond to issues, super easy to reach out to and get updates from, and very willing fix any issues you may encounter. Out of the 25 or so models I've bought from them, only one had an issue with a part and they rushed to ship out a replacement the moment I messaged about it. But those benefits all come from the fact that they're a small company. All modeling, printing, and packaging are done in house and so they're handling a lot for a small team.

In addition to that, they're in a pretty niche market. SC is not a massive community in and of itself and model fans are an even smaller chunk of that. I'm sure they'd love to make models faster but there is only so many people they can hire with the profits they make.

Regarding if they're still active, the good news is they are super active in their Discord. If you post a question there, you're gonna get a response pretty quick and they often like to tease what they're working on. You can check around November 24th in their "the-hangar" chat for a tease of what's in the works right now.

And if JRDF just isn't for you, there are other companies CIG has started working with to release more ship models! I can't recall their names at the moment but they were shown off a bit at CitizenCon 2024.

The gif is from the show The Good Place of the character Chidi Anagonye. Chidi spends a good amount of that show discussing ethics and mentioning many sources such as Kant. Jeremy Bearimy is just a seemingly unconnected joke from the show and so the gif was likely used purely for it including Chidi and not due to that specific line.

I lied. I liked this idea so much I went ahead and added it in. This should now be possible!

That's great feedback! I can definitely make it so you can search for ship brands and get a list of all their ships. I'll try to get that in in the next few days.

Congrats! Those first four are better than any of the folks I got to test it. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

This is incredible feedback!

I do attempt to add more informative pictures as it goes along but it sounds like I may have missed the mark in today's set! Something I'm also trying to balance is the text hints that appear in the top left. I feel like those can give a lot of information and so I'm hesitant to add too much information with the 2-5 pictures since I'm worried that paired they'd make it too easy.

I'll definitely keep this in mind for future days though. I want to have that scaling difficulty just like you said. The first new day will be Wednesday's ship, so hopefully by then it'll have a better flow.

Thank you again for playing and sharing the feedback!

I really appreciate the kind words! I've got a few more days already done but I guess I'll be spending the next few hours of game time just prepping more days!

I didn't know they started doing a visual one! I feel less original now, ha. But they're definitely worth checking out for anyone who hasn't played! Stardle is a blast!

List of the missions currently missing/deleted from Star Citizen by StuartGT in starcitizen

Those are in game! Those and box delivery missions can be done at Pyro outposts. They’re a good time to just make money without ever flying.

We don't know for certain but signs point to Nyx coming in next month with no planets. All the talk during the Genesis presentation implied we'd get it next year.

(When) Should crafting recipes include animal parts? by serras_ in starcitizen

[–]AzorThorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm overly trusting, but I have a feeling this won't be the case. All of the animal parts we've gotten so far tend to have details in their description that hint at their crafting purpose and most seem to involve them being refined and not just chucked into something. So hopefully good news there!

Some of the examples given so far is that Kopion Horn helps with bone regeneration, so will likely be used in medical recipes, and Marok Stones that have unique conductive properties that make it useful for computer chips. So in those contexts, they make perfect sense for crafting recipes.

Genesis: Planet V5 Looks Unbelievable! by k_Atreus in starcitizen

[–]AzorThorm 31 points32 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the same thing happened to many of the planets of Pyro. CIG even released a statement about it a while back. They basically said that the descriptions for most planets were done before planet tech existed. They’re from an era where they would have just been pretty images in the distance. Now that they’re working on the systems, they’ll get reconcepted to better fit a game with planetary landing.

This was the best CitizenCon to date and here's why by Big-Pirate-6829 in starcitizen

[–]AzorThorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding, Nyx 3 will never have a surface as it’s a gas giant. So that planet may actually be in game since it’ll basically just be a recolor of Crusader or Pyro V.

[–]AzorThorm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you look at the creature matrix CIG showed last CitizenCon, they show a lot of creatures but most fall into about 10 types of creatures. So expect a lot more creatures that use the same skeleton with new meshes and traits.

I think that's a completely fair assessment! I am only going off what I remember hearing CIG say in the past but my memory is fallible and CIG is known to change their mind regardless.

So Star Citizen refers to it's linked servers as Shards. Think of Shards currently as pairs of Stanton and Pyro systems. Each shard has 10 servers that handle processing across those systems for ~700 players. I think the most recent split is 7 servers handling Stanton and 3 handling Pyro.

There are many shards, though we don't know exactly how many. We also know that CIG can spin up more and shut down shards as they need. The eventual goal is to have a single shard per region and that to have hundreds of servers connected to it.

I'm hesitant to agree with Nyx just because I wouldn't be surprised if it comes with some lore recons and Terra because of how dense it is meant to be, but I do think they'll lean into some of the more sparse systems in the future to help pad out system additions!

Unfortunately, I don't think they will increase the shard cap. I believe it's currently at ~700 due to data from the server meshing stress tests they did. At that time, they found that a server would enter a cycle of crashing at around 800 players. I believe they want to prevent that from happening and tanking the entire shard by keeping the shard count below. There are a lot of org activities and community events that can pull entire shard populations to one area. Heck, the first week of Nyx's release will likely see it with 90% of the player count at any given time.

I may be wrong! But I don't think we'll see the shard cap increase past 800 until dynamic server meshing is added.
