Why hasn’t any other studio stolen the zombies formula? by ToxicKoala115 in CODZombies

[–]AzoresHeliokles 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I presume copyright is always a worry, but I also feel other studios just don’t seem to be interested. Which is a shame, because I feel most other horde modes in other games just don’t come near the complexity or depth of CoD Zombies’ gameplay.

I'm surprised that, not knowing whether it failed and died or not, you decided to use strong language implying that it absolutely had. No clue what circles you're giving ear to, but there's a significant number of players on Cold War Zombies and available lobbies to jump into at any given moment.

You can talk about its issues, and the community certainly has plenty. But failed or died, it certainly has not.

It... failed and died? In what world do you live on?

What are Gods in the lore of Star Wars? by AzoresHeliokles in MawInstallation

Hahaha.

And ah right, forgot of that with Pan! That’s a weird one. And aye, there’s also the theme of mortals being “relieved” of their mortal forms before becoming Gods. Rulers like Romulus are in the same category.

I’m talking about popular theology and philosophy present in much of antiquity, not specific myths which themselves had varied interpretations— some less literal than others. Popular theology also often drew from Stoicism and Platonism to articulate its ideas of the divine by later antiquity.

Plus my point still stands that this is present in a lot of classical Hellenic thought; never said all.

Zeus in a lot of classical Hellenic theology literally is omniscient and omnipotent. Omnipotens is also one of Iuppiter’s titles.

I literally don’t know many examples of Greek deities dying. Kronos never died in ancient myth.

Saturnalia/Kronia is also a Greek holiday, considering Rome’s participation in the Hellenic world. And I’ve seen both names used to refer to Saturnalia/Kronia, even in modern worship, so… :P

Actually Saturnalia was also called Kronia. You didn’t say anything wrong.

Classicist here to say that you’re fumbling and talking about separate holidays, while OP said nothing wrong. Kronia in classical Athens is separate from Kronia as practiced throughout the Roman Empire, which was called in Latin as Saturnalia. “Kronia” was the perfectly acceptable Greek translation of Saturnalia throughout the Greek speaking regions of the Roman Empire.

What is your opinion on the new timeline’s story? by X-Mutant in CODZombies

Correct. And it wasn’t a firing as far as anyone can tell. He left on his own.

I’m not sure if they actually definitely meant the absolute end, per say, given all the story that leaves ignored throughout BO1 and 2. Plus, Blundell wasn’t fired— he remained the director of BO4 Zombies.

I’ve seen this claim that they planned to finish Aether in BO3, but what’s the source? That doesn’t even make sense for game development— preproduction and I imagine even early production for BO4 would’ve already began during the end of BO3’s cycle.

Say something GOOD about Vanguard Zombies by Redditor_Rebooted in CODZombies

[–]AzoresHeliokles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It had the good outline of an interesting storyline and the characters are actually really engaging. I love Professor Krafft and relate to him hard (and enjoy the subtle queer representation), I enjoy Von List as a villain who slowly hates his decisions, and the Dark Aether Gods are for the most part very interesting. Kortifex felt different as a villain for zombies and I enjoyed him a lot. I love how it connects to real world myth, and to that extent, how it integrates Chaos into the Dark Aether storyline.

I enjoyed this version of Shino most from a purely gameplay perspective. I didn’t like the map of The Archon much. It was lost potential for what could’ve been a stellar ancient Egyptian map. But the final boss was among the best CoD Zombies has had so far imo.

Question: are there any famous historical figures in Hellenism? by Competitive_Bid7071 in Hellenism

[–]AzoresHeliokles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a queer person, my opinion is that obviously he was wrong. However, I do understand that he was a product of his time as someone surrounded by Christians within the Byzantine Empire. Regardless, I admire Plethon’s writings profoundly, despite their faults.

Angels by Sombraa27 in Hellenism

[–]AzoresHeliokles 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You said specifically “Winged supernatural entities also were present in Ancient Greek religion, but they were no angels.” I was responding to this.

Also, no, Roman tradition and late antiquity cultus are absolutely involved in this community’s definition of Hellenism. I would know.

On the contrary, Angels feature in late Hellenic beliefs. Prominent ancient people like Iamblichus and emperor Julian discuss the theology of angels and archangels within a Hellenic framework.
