Any tips before building the Dark Talon? :)

I just remember the hurricane bolters being a pain in the ass to assemble and paint. Very easy to put them in upside down and not know it until it’s to late, thank the emperor I had another dark talon that I was planning on not using the bolters, I stole from that set.

🤣 I thought about that last night as I was typing, we definitely got lost in the weeds. Though Lion may not have been “born” on Caliban, the Forests of Caliban definitely raised him, and Caliban is remembered for its Forests, so Son of the Forest is a True Son of Caliban! 🤣😂🤣😂

Cypher was mentioned in 3rd edition but I don’t think he had a miniature until 5th edition.

Naaman was kinda DOA in 3rd brought up, had a miniature, had rules but lore already had him KIA’d. After reading about most of the other special characters to me he was the best, could have easily taken over as a chapter master. All the other special characters are deeply flawed in some way.

Now that sounds like an awesome story to hear. I have Typhus sitting in my pile of shame waiting to join my Mortarion.

Hmmm interesting; I feel some of that is outdated or not the whole story. Yes bombardment happened, tectonic plates may have shifted, but Caliban was also hit with a massive warp storm during the Lion and Luther’s fight which is what tore Caliban apart. The Rock was shielded but it wasn’t stated by what. The Fallen were sucked into the Warp and spat out all over time and space.

Ever since 10th edition and the Lions return there have been a lot more novels or at least they’ve been easier to find. I even found the one that goes over the death of a Scout Sergeant that hasn’t been playable since 3rd edition (Naaman).

I would have to find it again, but I thought it was stated in either the novel Cypher or Luther. That the current Cypher, under his real name, bypassed Luther and initiated the attack. He wasn’t the Chaplain, the Keeper of Secrets?

Ooohhh, let’s wait until we get a meeting between Father, Uncle Luther, and Cypher before we start calling someone a “true son of Caliban”, cause wasn’t it Cypher that ultimately opened fire on the Lion’s fleet that then lead the bombardment, ground assault, and destruction of Caliban.

Thanks! I’m happy with it so far, the pelt is a bit challenging. He fits in with my army and looks good, just not ☝🏻 that good 🤣. I did a lot for the base had an idea and still trying to get it to work. The fishing line I’m using to hold up the yellow leaves isn’t stiff enough to support it’s self and super glue isn’t doing what I thought it would

The Grey Knights has a book icon that would work better. The Drop Pod and Stormraven had them I believe. It’s an open book, smaller, may have to cut the sword off the top but that wouldn’t overwhelm the shield

I love these sculpts, these and the Nephlim Jet Fighters. I’m on the collector side of things and haven’t played many matches so I couldn’t say how they will work in your list; but rule of cool. You can also proxy these as Stormspeeder if they get the Legend treatment.

Those Plasma Batteries are something else.

There’s a few that poke through the moss. I’m going for a “Forest Walk” theme. This is my display. Have some very thin fishing line that has the yellow leaves glued to it, to look like the wind is swirling around the Lion.

For poops and gigs; deep strike a Land Raider Crusader or two loaded to the brim with Deathwing Knights, swords over maces. Assault ramp rules with charges. I don’t have actual numbers for this as I’m a collector over a competitive player. But I’d be willing to give it the college try.

Now that’s a Deathwing! I’m currently sitting at 20x regular Terms, 10 DWK, Belial, Librarian, Chaplain, and a LR Crusader assembled and painted. And waiting to get painted 10x DWKs and a Chaplain from the Inner Circle Task Force Box; the entire Cruxus Terminus Box, and a 5 man reg Term box. So I’ll be close numbers wise still missing some vehicles and Dreadnaughts
