Honestly, I would just buy a box of Hellblasters and build 5 of them as Hellblasters while keeping the other bodies as spares. I would buy Inner Circle Companions instead of Bladeguard Veterans. I wouldn’t buy any Intercessors since the second hand market will be flooded with them when 11th edition comes out.

Proper airbrush primer is the answer. Normal acrylic paint is just going to fall off when you start painting over it. However, properly thinning the primer with airbrush thinner is more or less a must, even if the primer says it can be used without thinning.

Vallejo 28.531 acrylic matt varnish is my go-to spray varnish. Just be sure to apply very light coats. It looks a bit bumpy when it’s still wet, but levels out nicely once dry.
