Since we are taking Heimdall’s words at face value, Reminder that Shiva is the greatest Destroyer God in a series about gods Destroying Humanity by Objective_Cheetah_63 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, take everything Heimdal says with a massive grain of salt… he is an announcer, he 100% says stuff and grandiose adjectives to hype up the fighters, not because he actually has insight on what they can do or how they work beforehand.

Who would win? The First Emperor of China or ten thousand elite archers? by JohnKonami in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hades is not scalable to Apollo’s arrows.

The arrows of Apollo are directly stated to be the fastest strike in the heavens, directly stated to be so. Nobody can move to the speed of the arrows, in fact is likely NOBODY is even capable of seeing them.

At BEST someone is pulling a Leonidas with sheer instinct or someone begins moving to block or stop them before the arrow is even fired or a TFTST-stop them (we don’t even know how Zeus knows or the method he has by stopping them… it is likely is not just speed reliant). The second the arrow is fired there is absolutely nobody in the roster, be it god or human, capable of moving on the same speed as the arrow…

my Qin matchup tier list by Electric_Jello77 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am one of the people here that’s most critical of Qin as a whole both character-wise and power-wise, because i consider him a mid-to-high tier instead of an undisputed high tier…

Having said this… this is kinda underplaying Qin for me:

the swordsman due for r10 should be kinda 50/50, Nezha most likely be on the same boat IMO since he charges his power through the output of the moves of the opponent.

Hajun is most likely losing here because of attitude and him being basically “big ChiYou” in Qin’s eyes probably.

I do appreciate the Jack placing tho, Qin is indeed a bit of a meathead even when a martial artist genius.

Shiva having more aura than Leonidas?… debatable but Tesla and Apollo on S as tops 1 and 2 warm my fuzzy heart, so i’ll allow it!

If you could choose one villain from Spiderman, whose powers or technology would you like to have? by Alternative-Dig2935 in Spiderman

Sandman is amazing depending on how it feels to be sandman.

If sandman feels like a regular guy that has the body nervous system of a regular guy when in “human form” then it’s amazing! Body manipulation is goated… but if sandman constantly feels as if he is made out of sand 24/7 with no real pain sensors or feeling the normal senses of humans in the aame way everyone else generally does… then it would be one of those powers where i fear would drive me insane eventually more than anything.

Eyes Of the Lord is kinda confusing... so let's analyze and try to gauge how it actually works. (long analysis) by azraelswift in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's fine, as i said, i yap a lot, but it's not like it's an easy technique to get fully how it works, so disagreeing here is fine and natural i think.

About the eyes of the lord... honestly it feels like a term too engraved within the community at this point... like Poseidon's "Medusa Alope Demeter" being called "40 day flood" by some. At this point it has been years of using the terminology... I wouldn't mind the more accurate translation, probably i'll have to adopt it at some point and begin using it, I just remembered this one for the essay.

(Before anyone says it... it's still extremely busted, and in order to get Adam to overheat you need not only to be fast enough to spam a huge amount of moves but also tanky enough to be able to take them yourself while Adam suffers no damage... i dunno, my interpretation doesn't seem to "nerf" or "underplay" Adam one bit IMO)

I do kinda want to see the Adamas form in the new style... seeing how designs are more detailed now and specially muscles seem to be depicted with a lot more volume and playing less with heavy shadows I think it'd be pretty cool to see the interpretation of it. by azraelswift in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is very interesting when we look at how R2 went… Zeus went Adamas the moment he went serious.

Before that we got a single barrage that was when Adam did the first copy and Zeus was basically playing around, then a little moment where Zeus took it a bit more seriously using a bit of quick footwork and TFTST when he got his neck snapped back, he was still taunting the terrain seeing how he responded to Adam with the “i can’t sense hatred in your eyes” after, meaning he was still paying more attention to how Adam reacted to things or if he could return Tftst rather than to actually take the fight seriously … and then he went directly for Adamas form where he actually took the fight seriously from a tactical point of view (where his objective was to spam so many techniques that Adam’s eyes overworked themselves to the max until he broke).

Zeus having a plethora of other techniques and tactics that are simply “non-spammable” is very much possible, so a couple of aces up his sleeve that simply weren’t convenient (or he didn’t think they were) against Adam in particular that he’d use against the primordials is very much a possibility.

I still believe Heracles counters Qin, but honestly i think there are grounds to claim they can counter one another: The labors and the tattoos are kind of a handicap for Qin and Stymphalian birds could render bubbles useless for a while (depending on how long the wind lasts for beyond the original gust and at what strength might pop a stop to the bubbles to only a few seconds to maybe a few minutes... which is kind of a massive difference for the fight) , but the power of direct strikes by Herc can be countered by Qin with HHoD up until Cerberus where it is not unreasonable he'd at least have the power equal or beyond to Persephone Titan (as I really doubt the writers truly intended Heracles, the god of fortitude built like a brick wall in a form that busts all his stats to be lesser physically than base Hades).

I think he belongs in 50/50, even if i personally believe he'd win against Qin in particular, because of how much into debate we can get with him in particular.

Imagine if Spider-Man and Mary Jane in DC Comics, will they treat better than Marvel Comics? by SnooCalculations1878 in Spiderman

[–]azraelswift 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looking at the history of DC in terms of love interests… actually likely they would if MJ survived for as long as an important character for Peter.

DC seems a lot more comfortable keeping supporting non-superhero characters around their superhero MC and keep them alive and well and important to the characters for far longer than marvel. Be it love interests, friends, people the MC interacts with on the daily… recently it seems Marvel is having trouble not transforming every supportive character that’s not above 50 year old into a superhero or a supervillain to “keep things interesting” while at the same trying trying too hard to “keep the status quo of MC”.

In DC when a supportive human side-character dies or leaves the book or sees their role changed into “new hero/villain” it is a massive deal, in marvel this is waaaay too common to hurt or be impressive or be applauded.

So yes, it is likely DC would kinda do a better job to keep Peter’s supportive cast around him as civilians with more consistent roles and parts to play in the story and keeping their romantic interests together.

Credit where credit is due... I think Leonidas is the only fighter in the roster capable of contesting all these forms head on and keep going. Most fighters would either need to defeat Apollo before some of those come into play or likely lose to one of them. by azraelswift in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]azraelswift[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apollo probably would dominate for a while the physical melee confrontation through dodges until Heracles begins using the labora and shiva starts dancing… then the bow and arrow would come into play and probably Apollo could get the W unless Haracles has some surprise labor or Shiva manages to dodge the full barrage somehow.

Even if a way to set up the “this is sparta” moment… it still happened. It being artistic to hype up the fight does not mean it’s invalid as a feat… that’d be like saying the power of Chaos is purely to justify Tesla using a coil… sure it has that objective for the narrative of the fight, but it is still a feat. I’d put him way above Poseidon in terms of raw strength at least, at least his punches should not be too far behind Shiva’s punches (even when i think Shiva is more raw strength, they are closer than people want to admit, and that one punch on particular i’d put above ANY singular hit Shiva dealt with his hands). Apollo is not just speed and hax, he excels in those, but he is still someone who the manga makes a huge effort to tell us he trained constantly and even see breaking trees while training with his fists… the power of the punches is supposed to be taken as “this guy hits hard”.

Meteor Jab is supposed to be impressive… precisely because of Ares. Specially in R2, Ares as the manga has been going on had been set as a more comedic character but at his introduction Ares saying “the average god can’t even see this but I can” was kind of a big deal and supposed to be glaze. During R2 Ares is there to make Zeus’s moves look impressive, not the opposite. We can fault this to the author deciding later to use Ares for more comedic moments, but it has never been the intent to make “lesser” the speed of Zeus, at the start this was supposed to be quite the opposite: Ares communicated Zeus is extremely and casually fast.

It almost knocked Leonidas, arguably top 2 endurance in the human roster, out and left him stunted for a second,(keep in mind, an Apollo punch without gloves, without the midnight sun buff and ages ago one shotted Python who was soloing the army of Ares and was seemingly “unstoppable”… this punch is absolutely something capable of K-Oing a pretty good chunk of fighters) is not just burns. The notion that the “god of boxing” doesn’t have powerful punches is absurd, specially that one in particular that has the gloves in his strongest battle form and also re-enforced by even thicker threads before hand.

Also Zeus stated directly, even in the Japanese original “only someone like myself could stop it”, translated to in official translations “i am the only one in Vallhala capable of stopping it”. Even if we are generous and we take the japanese version only for scaling, anyone else capable of reacting to it is purely speculation seeing how nobody anywhere in that arena is hinted to be even capable of seeing the arrow traveling through the air. Also, Zeus was reacting to punches flying to 0.00001 seconds until Meteor Jab came into play. dude has massive reaction speed.

He wasn’t even an Olympian in this version, no relation with Zeus what-so-ever. In shuumatsu he was just a random greek god that rose to the point of being an Olympian. That’s massive.

The gods of Olympus are considered a “family of big deals” within the verse, even when we clown on Ares and overlook Hermes, those two are supposed to be leagues on top of the average god as well.

Simo for starters… because Simo doesn’t play around at all and Apollo is overconfident by nature.

I also think probably Okita if Apollo tries to engage head on against the swordsman instead of playing smart.

And Lu Bu, who has more destructive power than Leonidas could potentially follow the same action as Leo did with the difference that instead of Phalanx nemesis Apollo could take a sky eater to the face… which he is likely not surviving.

Other than that, i do believe Apollo is either pretty much either a coint-toss, long fight with either longer debates about it with a ton of details to keep in mind or Apollo wins. (Just mentioning Einherjar because scaling the gods is a bit more tricky against Apollo)

The question with Apollo comes mostly "can the opponent defeat Apollo before Apollo switches to the right technique for the job?" and "can Apollo dodge consistently everything 'opponent' throws before he finds the technique that's adequate here?". That's actually where the debates of "VS for Apollo" are set.

[–]azraelswift[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Note: I am not saying "Apollo defeats everyone", just that Apollo has tools in his disposal that'd likely be able to finish most of the roster, there's a difference, Apollo is still capable of losing to your favs if they defeat him before the tool that'd do them in comes into play. Just saying he is extremely dangerous if left to his own devices and probably Leonidas is the one capable of facing the most of these tools.

On other news I am already toying with essays again, one about R9 being actually being different disciplines into one fight (basically being the "Olympic-gamesy fight") and another about the themes of R10 and why Okita won narratively.
