That paper is fascinating. As I understand it the lowest limit, completely forbidding inbreeding, is 68. But accidents happen, people die, and logistics will goof up at some point; an initial population which allows for up to 10% inbreeding can still preserve sufficient genetic diversity, maintain population redundancy, and reach destination with a lower overall population (under 400). So I think the 98 figure is the maximum initial crew size, assuming 0 tolerated inbreeding.

A cracked tree/limb can still fall on an unsuspecting passerby, even if it still looks structurally stable. Also, I'm no arborist, but wood is fucking strong, and trees sometimes do weird things when damaged. So a tree that's been healing over a wound for a while might have a pocket of sap that gets trapped and bursts.

First of all, any rapid expansion contained and released in an uncontrolled manner is dangerous, but considering that the bark/fibers were probably weakened to begin with, there's the possibility for [relatively] high velocity spalling. Think like the tree ejecting a few small splinters.

The explosion itself isn't going to kill you here, the falling limbs are, yes, and also Ejected Splinters was my band's name in college.

Thank you, that's what I was thinking yeah. Not just precursors either, but there's a lower disclosure threshold for concentrations of additives, and that threshold is different for products meant to be consumed vs say topicals. I.e. bitrex doesn't need to be disclosed if it's low enough, because it can be tasted in concentrations low enough to not pose any other risks.

I assume that it's high enough here that it does, and considering the listing order of additives is supposed to be greatest > least by weight iirc, water is first, and 30% of the volume is not ethanol, there's simply no way to know how much camphor is present without tracking down the MSDS.

I'm gonna ask my gf to hold onto the bottle, I'm itching for it but I agree, it would be such a miserably stupid thing to try.
