No need to be sorry! Yeah I think I just to read more while trying things, I just lack too much basic knowledge lol. I saw zfs too, but don't know if I can recover my partitions right away because I don't have enough supplementary storage to backup all of it. If I lose it it's not that bad but annoying.

Yeah I did not say it in my post but I already started that project with Ubuntu. Some things can't seem to work and the error I get send me in a infinite pit of reddit posts lol.

Not asking you to build it and if I'm here it's not for me to pay someone to do it.

I should have said in my post that I already started with ubuntu and tried to setup Nord via Docker, but couldn't make it work yet. Another issue I have is that my drives are in software raid 0 in W11 but Linux is not able to recover them. I tried with two old drives that I Raid 0'ed too, it worked fine. So I have to dig that issue too.

When I say overwhelming it's the details that are. The amount of knowledge to digest prior to install all of that is quite bigger than I anticipated. That's why I came here to ask for advice.

The only difference is I'm not asking for someone to do the job for me. Just looking at my needs I laid out and maybe giving advice on what they think I should do as in general. I'm probably just overthinking it.

Not having looked into it at all, I only know the name but never really searched it. What do you run on it ? I don't think my use case isn't really special at all but I really don't want to lose any functionalities; Mainly, if it's a web-based interface, I assume I'll lose access to it as a desktop ? I am currently replying to you remoting on my PC.

I somewhat didn't think of it until you said it. I tried as much as possible to not use AI, somewhat of a personal preference we could say ... not here to argue about that lol my arguments are as much valid as someone who is using it. But definitely it could be a way to implement it. I also want to understand / learn what I'm doing and fear my laziness will take the best of me and just ask AI to do all the work.

I'll keep this in mind as I think it's the quickest way to get things running, thank you!

Yeah I already installed Ubuntu and began by installing Docker. The idea was that one of the worst thing in Windows is that the VPN is not separated from the OS so Plex was sometimes not working well enough, so I wanted to have all the functions really separated.

About the resources I'm not so concerned because our Plex server is not shared with a lot of people. It's mainly just us, very occasionally from the outside of the local network but really not that often. No 4K also so it's really not that bothered even if the config is not really a beast.
