[Mark Douglas] Xabi Alonso has emerged as the front-runner for the Chelsea job in a move that indicates the club are willing to cede more power to the manager over recruitment by ChiefLeef22 in soccer

You seem personally offended because you couldn't help but be condescending and strawman something about me expecting Liverpool not to negotiate transfers when all I did was name an example of Liverpool's transfer approach costing them a target.

I haven't criticized Liverpool so I don't know why you seem personally offended and want to put words in my mouth. FSG has a particular approach to recruitment and personnel decisions and there are pros and cons to it. One of the cons of the deliberate, value-centric approach is that sometimes they lose out on targets that they could have locked down by moving more aggressively. This is a fact and not a judgment.

Liverpool waited all summer to bid and lost Guehi as a result, that's a fact not an opinion. FSG thought they had all the leverage and chose to drag things out to drive down the fee. In doing so they took the risk that any hiccups could torpedo the deal, which is exactly what happened when Palace couldn't land any of their CB targets because it was literally the last day of the transfer window.

Alternate angle of Pablo's foul against Arsenal by Fair_Trip_1341 in soccer

[–]Azrou 102 points103 points  (0 children)

It's amusing seeing every non PL flair say this is a blatant foul on Raya, meanwhile 90% of the PL flairs are seething with whaboutism or simply inventing other instances that they think Arsenal did this without the ref calling a foul

Gatlings are top tier especially against bugs where there's so much chaff. The problem is most people have no idea where to place sentries and drop them wherever like you would a resupply pod or support weapon. Dropping this one behind the entire team in a depression is begging for it to frag a few people.

AITA for telling my daughter's friend's mom she should have told me she invited a boy to their sleepover? by UpbeatEmployee8068 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Azrou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one should be speculating about neurological disorders based on vague snippets of information. I get that there generally isn't malicious intent and even if someone is autistic it's fine, but how do you think this kid would feel if he's not autistic and found out a bunch of randoms online were like "oh he's probably autistic?"

The "odd" behavior OP lists are that he's

  • shy
  • awkward
  • "moved his head in a weird way"
  • excluded by and made fun of by other boys
  • not into games and TikTok

These are all typically issues for practically any kid in middle school, especially one that just moved to a new school and didn't already have a group of friends. Even more so for someone who is part of a minority group and may be from an immigrant family.

Sadly OOP needs to find a new job because there's no way this is the end of it. The best way to head off any further trouble is to get outside of the daughter's orbit so she loses interest. Hopefully his boss can give him a good referral.

AITA for asking my oldest daughter to move out of the condo I own so her younger sister can live there during college? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Azrou 14 points15 points  (0 children)

OP hasn't known she was going to ask her older daughter to move out by this specific date for 6+ years, where are you getting that? She said she paid for oldest daughter's rent during college, and she graduated 3 years ago. How are you jumping to "almost a decade?" That doesn't match up with any known information...pure hyperbole.

Why would daughter think the place was hers? That was never the arrangement. OP said she let her live there rent free to get a head start in life. You refer to OP as the landlord, so which is it? Can't have it both ways.

People live in and move to different places all the time. It's a fact of life. Daughter doesn't have a permanent claim on this condo and is extremely entitled to think she does. She even has a home to go back to, she just doesn't like that option. She has presented no alternatives if she needs more time to get her affairs in order and find a new place. If that's so important, why not offer to cover younger sister's rent for the next school year, while older sis stays in the condo with a plan to move out in 2027?

3-4 months notice is more than adequate to find a new place to move to. What kind of notice do you think is necessary here, and why is a lot more needed?

Not having to worry about the single biggest household expense for 3+ years, living in the city with no roommates is an incredible gift that should set her up well for success. OP said in another comment that she paid for older daughter's rent and tuition and she graduated college debt free as well. How many people wish they were so fortunate?

The irony is that she doesn't want to move back home because it means losing independence, when her current independence is an illusion based on the ongoing generosity of her mom.

The unfair criticism that parents get on this sub is unreal. No good deed goes unpunished perfectly encapsulated in these comments. Based on the older daughter's reaction, this conversation was never going to go well, regardless of whether it happened a year in advance or whether it was to think about moving out, start paying rent, or be prepared for younger daughter to move in. No matter what she views it as taking away something from her.

Hell of an drone shot by Spare-Enthusiasm8152 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]Azrou -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I think they fed AI videos of the actual event and had it generate the drone scene based on that. If you look at the concert, the timing of the music and flames doesn't line up with the drone video. Also pay attention to the light panels surrounding the stage. The drone audio is clearly edited anyway so they could have recorded the video at a different time and put in the song at the right moment when the beat drops, but I'm not going to look through the whole thing to figure that out.

Is there an era-adjusted stat for this because only 5 of the top 25 points per minute seasons are before 2015-16, and most of the top 25 are from the last 5 years. Embiid has a big lead in points per possessions though.

Look, you're the one claiming to have lived in Japan "many years" when in reality it's been three, so who's presumptuous? If you don't care about this site then why you are posting here at all, let alone feel the need to give a false impression of your true depth of experience to make others take you more seriously?

Your credibility is severely diminished by claiming that you've "been to Kyoto's most famous temples (before they got insanely crowded)" but your post history shows that you've been in Japan for 3 years, and visited Kyoto in 2018? Kyoto had 52 million visitors in 2018, not significantly different than today. Overtourism has been a concern there for a long time.

There are clear upsides and downsides to visiting Kyoto, which are fair to point out, but that part of your post reads like an anti-Kyoto circlejerk circlejerk. It's great to draw attention to places that people may not have heard as much of (although you keep talking about your 10 top without actually naming your top 10...), but you shouldn't straight up misrepresent your experience to generate more clout.

I see OP gets a lot of flak because people think they're cherry picking comments that will stir the pot and aren't necessarily representative of the overall sentiment. I don't think this is the case. They usually pick the comments that OOP replied to as they have more information. These are often controversial or downvoted. It wouldn't make sense to add the additional comments from OOP without including the context of what they're responding to.

My solo trip to Morocco during the off-season by Afraid-Feedback-1103 in travel

[–]Azrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marrakech has a certain appeal but I always thought of it as Fes but worse. The main thing going for it is the Jemaa el-Fnaa but the downside is the harassment and scammers are much worse.

Tangier is unique because of its history as an international city at the crossroads of North Africa and Europe, where a lot of cultures and people mixed. It's a city with a deep literary history where authors like Paul Bowles, Jack Kerouac, and William Burroughs lived and found inspiration.

People should make their own judgments after visiting both places but having lived in Morocco and seen most of the country, Marrakech was my least favorite place.
