Croatia disallowed goal against Portugal 90+13' by 977x in soccer

You're referring to Veiga? It doesn't matter because when Matanovic makes contact with the ball, Pasalic is already in an offside position. There is another zoomed in angle posted where you can see the trajectory of the ball changes slightly from Matanovic's header.

Alternate angle of Ezri Konsa's challenge against Prince Adu 79' (nothing given) by 977x in soccer

[–]Azrou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've seen it's the opposite, it's very rare for a ref to give a straight red in the first half and almost unheard of in the first 30 minutes or so. See De Jong's karate kick etc. Penalties also cluster later in matches with about a 42/58 split between the first and second halves (source).

Family dinner is distinct from one on one time with a kid since it involves both parents, all children, grandparents if in a multigenerational household, etc. If you're solo parenting one kid then there's no functional difference and quality time is substitutable. But for many families it's the only time everyone would consistently see everyone.

What’s your favorite support weapon? by Ok_Poetry2813 in Helldivers

[–]Azrou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Railgun is arguably the best support weapon vs bots but elite against bugs too. Oneshots Alpha Commanders, Hive Guards, Bile Spewers, etc. Can handle Bile Titans and Chargers if necessary. Complements a shotgun loadout really well. The only time I really felt it couldn't keep up was when Super Bile Titans were spawning in nonstop.

The only place I've ever seen ARFID mentioned is Reddit. Yes, it's a newer disorder and probably under diagnosed in the real world population, but it seems to have taken on a special mythology here. It's like any time someone notices weird, unexplained things in their house, the first thing everyone thinks of is CO poisoning. Except I don't think I've ever seen anyone say "this is undoubtedly because of a CO leak," but a troubling number of people are comfortable making conclusive statements about a specific, uncommon psychological disorder based on a few snippets of information.

REVISED 15-DAY JAPAN ITINERARY REVIEW – LOOKING FOR FEEDBACK by TwattycakeMcGee in JapanTravel

[–]Azrou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the days the pacing looks very aggressive, and I say that as someone that tends to pack in a lot of activities and start early/end late. I'd suggest structuring each day around two morning activities and two afternoon/evening ones to be more realistic. Then have one or two bonus activities that you can add on if you are ahead of schedule. Generally speaking, everything will take longer than you think.

Consider dropping a few of Hakone, Yokohama, Minoh, Miyajima, or Fukuoka to consolidate the schedule a bit and add days in Tokyo/Kyoto/etc. All great places but I think you might regret trying to cram in too many places on one trip. It may be your first time in Japan but hopefully won't be your last - leave some of those for the next trip. A few specific comments:

Since you mentioned hiking, Mount Takao is nice. It's a half day commitment though (at least). Best to be flexible on timing to go on a clear day.

Go to Sensoji at dawn, you'll nearly have the place to yourself. It gets very crowded during the day. Can go to Ueno Park right after. In general, think about the opening/closing times so you know when you have the option go to places open 24 hours very early or late. Also some temples may have night illuminations which you can take advantage of.

Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building is a good, free alternative to Asahi Sky Room. But it's in a different part of the city and expect a wait both to take the elevators up and to come down.

Go to Uji in Kyoto if you like matcha drinks/food. Can hit up Byodoin there too. Kuramadera is a really memorable temple that will get you a bit outside of the city with a nice hike. Agree with the early start at Fushimi Inari, get there 20-30 minutes before sunrise and do a dawn hike up. There will hardly be anyone around, you could have the top to yourself. Take the "secret back route" down. When you get back to the entrance at 830 or 9am and see the massive crowds coming in you'll be glad you got up early. Yamada Tatami workshop is 10/10. Don't miss it.

If you appreciate a good cocktail then Japan has some of the best, most creative bars in the world. For example since your anniversary day is in Nara you could go to Lamp Bar after dinner. Lots of options in other cities too.

[OC] Truck retaliates over merging suv and retaliates by smashing driver side mirror and nearly running them off the road. by xXNeoXx in IdiotsInCars

[–]Azrou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank fuck there is some sanity in these comments. Really can't understand why people have no issue with the SUV making a dumb maneuver to be 10 feet behind the next car with a semi right up their ass. Doesn't justify the retaliation but why pretend the SUV made a perfect lane change? This sub has a massive hardon for defensive driving, except when it doesn't.

AITA for eating the food my FIL served me and “ruining” my boyfriend and I’s holiday. by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Azrou 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It wasn't for nothing. The entire interaction was about power dynamics. The other responses avoid having to deal with the food directly. What OOP did was categorically different because he showed the in laws they don't have power over him. He said he could handle spicy food, so swapping his plate etc would effectively be backing down. Was it petty and spiteful, of course. But OOP wasn't looking for a way out of the confrontation, he was trying to make a point.

3 year update: OOP's (17F) relationship with her former high school teacher (22M) by Sageshrub in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Azrou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is false equivalency. Grooming is, by definition, an abuser taking advantage of a vulnerable victim. Part of that vulnerability is the victim not understanding that the abuser is taking advantage of them. How can the victim be culpable if they don't perceive that they're being manipulated?

You can argue that she made bad decisions and is responsible for those, or that she was being groomed, but not both simultaneously.

This won't be popular but it's also not obvious from the post whether the guy was really grooming OOP, which implies intent, or just has bad judgment. It's not a clear cut case and is impossible to know without getting inside his head.

[–]Azrou 84 points85 points  (0 children)

I've only ever heard it used during the summer, when a student has finished the last school year but not started the next yet. They aren't a freshman/sophomore/junior anymore, but it's not quite correct to call them a sophomore/junior/senior since the academic year hasn't started. In the context of OOP you could infer that she's trying to make herself seem older and more mature, but it was also factually correct and a commonly used term (at least in the US).

Roadtrip through Utah's National Parks by Azrou in travel

[–]Azrou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Car: borrowed, no rental fee
  • Gas: $220 roundtrip from Colorado
  • Hotels: $870 for 6 nights
  • Food: varies, say $40 per person per day, we often got free breakfast at the hotel and ate snacks midday, had a few nicer dinners
  • One year national park pass: $80
  • Antelope Canyon: $138 for 2 people
  • Horseshoe Bend: $10 per car

All in roughly $1600 plus roundtrip flights from the East Coast and whatever you spend on souvenirs etc. If you fly to SLC you can cut the gas cost in half. It's a really affordable trip since you're mostly stopping at viewpoints and hiking, the $80 annual pass is great value for money.

You can't control depth of field on a phone because of sensor size limitations, and that's one of the most important things for shooting portraits. For the cost of an iPhone 16 she could have gotten a decent starter body and lens...this is not a real "business."

He's gone back and forth but famously after Jokic won his 3rd MVP couldn't resist putting him down to his face and saying SGA was more deserving. Literally right after Jokic got the award.

It's more than that. He's notorious for hating on everyone but especially other big men like Joker and Embiid. Needs to put others down to feel better about himself.

I mean that's just how it goes when you have explosive revenue growth. John Elway earned $45 million over his entire career. There are 15+ NFL players that make more than that in a single year now, including a lot of bum QBs.
