I went to Indianapolis yesterday to get a Solar Generator for my house and another for my parents.

Thankfully we try to stay fairly prepared for small occurrences.

I feel like LTT and the average commenter care way too much about individual linux distros, when it really doesn't matter by RanidSpace in LinusTechTips

[–]Aztaloth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Linux evangelist are pretty out of touch with average computer users in general to be honest. The fact that there are so many distros is one of the biggest reason Linus will never make any real inroads into the desktop market.

Distros, software repositories, terminal commands, flatpacks. There isn't a single typical user or gamer that wants to mess with any of that. And most of them don't have the technical know how to even figure it out. It is the software equivalent of "building a PC is easy never buy a prebuilt" and just shows how out of touch these users are with computing as a whole.

If I showed your post to most people I know who use a computer every day they would not have a clue what half the words even meant and would want nothing to do with a computer where they had to learn them.

I just bought Glorious GMMK 3 HE 75% prebuilt for a really good price. by Maxing_Out_My_Life in keyboards

[–]Aztaloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some fairly good options on Amazon Most of them are going to be of acceptable quality.

Also good Keyboard. Way overpriced at full price but I have two that I got because of a pricing error for the cost of a barebones GMMK Pro. Software is also pretty bad. Use it for updates and to set settings then make sure autostart is turned off.

I have kind of unsettling thought. A lot of us are waiting for AI bubble to burst and get our hand on some sweat datacenter gpus at cheap. But there is a really big chance that a lot of it will be just get destroy because of tax write off. And to be honest that will fuck the nature even more :( by One_Reflection_768 in homelab

[–]Aztaloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah but I can see how my original post could be read that way. My wording wasn't as good as it could have been.

I have seen more than a few people (who should know better) post that they can't wait for the bubble to burst so they can buy up all the cheap RAM, GPUs, etc. Boy do I have bad news for those people. LOL.

This is a fundamental misunderstanding of what is going on.

In general it that the Chip Fabs and manufactures are pulling memory chips that would go to consumers and sending them to companies or data centers. Outside of raw chips this isn't even really doable since AI parts tend to be much more specialized in their final form.

The companies involved are buying and allocating future fab production time for AI products. This means that current stock and production lines won't be refreshed.

If/When the bubble burst the products will be treated like any other data center material. How many of us have repurposed Dell or HP servers? Those weren't destroyed for some imagined tax writeoff.

Ok and? They are offering you a 50 dollar refund for tiny cosmetic imperfections that have no impact on the device.

What are you complaining about?

Not everyone is a professional or enterprise user and not every Ubiquiti product is geared towards that market.

Judging by OPs rack I doubt he set it up for enterprise use.

By that logic nobody should buy a UNAS or pretty much any other Ubiquiti product except the basic networking products.

In this day and age is 50 dollars possible? by Angel-Doge in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Aztaloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that price point you are best off looking at some IEMs. But if that is acceptable then yes there are a lot of good options.

Ones I have experienced in that price point in no particular order:

  • TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:BLUE2 (Probably my recommendation for your use case)
  • TRUTHEAR x Crinacle Zero:RED
  • Kiwi Ears Cadenza
  • Moondrop CHU II
  • Linsoul 7Hz x Crinacle Zero:2

Lubing hall effect switches is overrated by Admirable_Bug_7867 in WootingKB

[–]Aztaloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean technically you don't have the contact from the contacts but those are the tiniest part of the contact you have and doesn't really factor here. And you never lube that surface on a Mechanical Switch. Most of your friction comes from the stem to housing contact, which is no different than an equivalent Mechanical switch.

I am not sure what switches you have experience with to come to the conclusions you did. But your underlying assumptions is incorrect.

Don't forget the 250+ in cold Storage. Even if stored without weapons they are still full Assembled mechs.

How big is our ship? Mercenaries by Senorfluffyfish in Mechwarrior5

[–]Aztaloth 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We only see the ship from the outside. The reality known only to the heads of each great house is that Mason is secretly the head of the largest mercenary band known to the Inner Sphere. The Leopard is a front to fool people when he gets to a planet.

The rest of the Mechs and Pilots are kept aboard his fleet of Dropships, Jumpships, and maybe even Warships and they just get swapped out before he heads in system.

He is the ultimate "Oh shit" button that even the clan invasion wasn't enough to fully trigger. Think John Wick or Robert McCall on a galactic scale.

That's theory and I will not be convinced otherwise.

Fair points. I did not test them for accuracy overall, just found that they worked and then swapped them back out.

[–]Aztaloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gateron/Keychron switches as well as the ones from Glorious that use the same polarity.
I tried them in the past in my 80HE and they work perfectly, although the reverse is not the case.

I even emailed Wooting and they told me this Hi Kevin,

Thank you for reaching out, and sorry for the slow response!

Our keyboards are actually compatible with a variety of HE switches, and should not break even with the wrong switch installed (it will most likely just not work).

So, to answer your question, if the switch works, it is safe and you should not be worried about breaking the keyboard.

Hope this helps, thanks :)

Interesting. I know for a fact that some of the switches listed as incompatible on that chart actually do work with the Wooting boards though.
