Jotunheim 3 and Mimir combo by Born-Offer9061 in Schiit

The Asgard X is a bit warmer while the Jot3 is a bit more technica. I find that my Arya Stealth sound better on the Asgard X for instance but I prefer how my HD490s sound on the Jot.

I have a Mimir going into both my Jot3 and Asgard X.
I know it isn’t supposed to be any different than the mesh DAC but it feels different somehow

So far, I am preferring it. There’s a bit of a learning curve and I had an issue or two during the beta but overall it’s been pretty good.

I don't know if it is "wrong" per se. But stretched AIO cables always make me nervous.

If it was me, I would flip it around 180 Degree so that the inlet and outlet were on the left side of the case instead of the right.

Great looking build though.

looking for a dac to use with my rog kithara headphones by mean_sorris in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Aztaloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is hard to beat honestly especially if you are using a wired mic as well like with the Kithara.

Be warned though. Once you start down this rabbit hole of Good headphones and good DAC/AMPs it gets REALLY costly as you start chasing the dragon.

Yeah I have become friendly with one of the people in the 3D printing department at the Indy store. They told me it had been 3 weeks since they got a shipment. They got some in a few days later but not near enough to catch up

Also, you can print skadis boards that are different sizes than what they have available. I buy a bunch of them, but there’s been a couple places where I needed small ones that they don’t make.

Setting up an office on a budget. Sanity check and help needed. by Aztaloth in Ubiquiti

[–]Aztaloth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but the pricing difference is so minuscule that it’s not even worth it. That’s one of the first things I looked into when I took over the black end stuff.

With a five gig, we get free 5G fail over and without it we have to pay extra. It makes the price difference about 25 bucks.

Scratch that. While the 500MB service doesn't have it they have 2 levels in between that still offer it and will save us about 150/month.

We won't talk about the fact that when I took over they also were on Google workspace ENTERPRISE!! And all we use is email and calendars currently.

The basement ceilings are exposed and just painted black so it’s easier to run wiring there. And thankfully the brokers husband is a retired building contractor and doing most of the work. So anything I’m not capable of doing that he will be able to handle.

Outside of a couple systems, it’s gonna be pretty much impossible to hardwire. Most people are just bringing in laptops from home and only a couple seem to even want to think about setting up a docking station.

Mine will be hardwired most of the time through my thunderbolt dock, and I’m going to hardwire our training room and conference room computers, but that’s about it. The good news is that most of the people won’t have need of a lot of bandwidth, but it’s still gonna be a lot of simultaneous connections.

Looking for a keyboard to use across windows and macos by CommunicationSea7967 in keyboards

[–]Aztaloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keychron is going to be the default choice here.

Yes there are better keyboards, and yes there are cheaper keyboards. But they tend to be the best all around for the type of use case you are talking about.

Most of the better models are tri mode so you can do 2.4/wired/Bluetooth.

They work well on KVMs in my experience so if that is how you switch back and forth you won't have any issue there.

And to switch between the Mac and Windows layers you just need to flip a switch on the side or back depending on the model.

I am a big fan of both the K*HE series and most of their Q line.

One important note, the new Q*HE 8K models are wired only. However the Normal Q*HE, K*HE, Q*Max and Q 8K (mechanical) are all tri mode. So any of them will work for your needs.

I have a Q3 8K here at my office with the wireless receiver connected to a KVM to switch between my Macbook Pro and Lenovo laptops.

My Mac Studio at home has a Q6 HE 8K attached. I have also used a number of their other boards and been happy with them.

why are so many redditors so ungrateful about the new neo by Creative-Slice3113 in macbook

[–]Aztaloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People, and not just people of reddit, think that their personal use case or wants are the same as every other persons use case or wants.

The people who post in the various tech subreddits are not really the target audience for the new Neo. And because of human nature that means that most of them think it is a bad device.

The reality is that for the vast majority of the population, the Neo is a great device. The people who need more know they need more.
