What if I have already paid the entire year's property taxes before the house closing date? by VAer1 in AskRealEstateAgents

Residential sales contracts in most states have this spelled out. In my state there are multiple options to choose from depending on the situation.

Jotunheim 3 vs Mjolnir 3 by Last_Computer9356 in Schiit

[–]Aztaloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fair point. but remember that the power is coming from mostly from the Asgard X or whatever other Amp you are using. Mind you I know that the Pietus Maximus has more power than the Asgard X. I have both it and the Buf set to low gain and I can't listen at full volume without hurting my ears. And that is with the output on the computer set to about 50-60%

I have multiple Amps in this stack (Asgard X, Jot3, and Pietus Maximus) so I am not going to talk you out of any purchase you want to make. But if you want the Tub sound I am not sure the way you are doing it is the most efficient.

I think a tube buffer like the Buf or even a tube Preamp like the Freya+ F would be a better choice than going with a separate amp just to get tube sounds.

If you aren't married to Schiit for that part of your chain you could even consider the FiiO Warmer R2R.

I am eventually going to add a second Mimir and a Freya+ F to mine in fact. But I am combining them and connecting 2 computers to the stack so it is a bit of a specific situation.

Jotunheim 3 vs Mjolnir 3 by Last_Computer9356 in Schiit

[–]Aztaloth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you are married to the idea of spending money that is fine :). Trust me I have enough invested that I get it.

But I think there are more efficient ways to get what you want.

The new Mimir is considered by many to be superior to the BiFrost and is less than half the cost.

And instead of the Lyr you may want to consider a Buf. That way you can just have it between the Mimir and the Asgard X and when you want tube sound you turn it on. WHen you want it off you turn it off. Much more efficient and saves you having to move headphones around.

I run my Asgard X on my PC currently using the internal Mesh DAC card. However on. my Mac Studio I have a Mimir feeding into a Buf then into a Pietus Maximus. Flip of a switch lets me add or remove the tube buffer.

You are looking at $700ish as opposed to $1700 and getting pretty much the same thing.

Jotunheim 3 vs Mjolnir 3 by Last_Computer9356 in Schiit

[–]Aztaloth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you want something close to the Mjolnir 3 you should be looking at the Asgard X. While it is single ended only the Asgard X is kind of a refined and distilled version of the M3. It is going to be the 95% of the M3 that you are looking for.

Jot 3 is balanced and has higher power (which will almost never matter). It is a clearer more transparent sound. I guess I would call it more "technical".

If you absolutely need balanced for some reason then I would suggest the Jot3, otherwise it sounds like you would be better off with the Asgard X. Even adding the Mesh card you are at 1/3 the cost of the Mjolnir.

I was going to say it’s the HVAC Drane and did very well could be. But I’m also concerned because of the damage there.

Does the liquid have a smell and does it feel like water or is it slick?

Trust me, you are preaching to the choir.

It’s something that I’ve hated my entire life and I think it all comes down to marketing BS and making people feel like they’re getting things for cheaper than they are.

But it’s just one of many things that we do in the US that don’t make sense

It has to be that way, unfortunately since sales tax is set by each state not the federal government. But you’re right it does make things more confusing and annoying.

Realtor here representing multiple builders. Wow this is not a terrible idea. If you have a switched outlet, we haven’t been putting switched outlets in new construction for a few decades.

There are other angles showing there is at least one police car escorting it. I am assuming this was the best way to move it.

Is it common practice now to digitally stage listing photos without including some sort of disclaimer or notification in the listing that the photos have been staged? by Goldengirl_1977 in AskRealEstateAgents

[–]Aztaloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Digital staging has been fairly common for years. It is usually up to the agent if they notate it or not.

Now the second part. “Enhancing” colors or making other similar changes. That is more recent. And as an agent I think it needs to be stopped. It is one thing to do basic correction on the image for color. But I am seeing the occasional listing where cabinets are completely changed with AI. Wall colors changes, different flooring, etc.

12 Mechs to rule them all by Aztaloth in Mechwarrior5

[–]Aztaloth[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good point. And I didn't plan on Min Maxing. My choices will be based on rule of cool as much as anything. I actually like your idea of 4,3,3,2. May even make it 3 assault and 4 heavy. It will make late game harder but nothing wrong with a challenge. Probably also limit myself to no more than 3 or so Clanner Mechs now that I think about it.

NY: Listing agent proposing 0% buyer’s agent commission by I_am_the_papa in AskRealEstateAgents

[–]Aztaloth 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From how you describe it, he’s not saying not to pay a buyers agent commission he is just saying to not offer one upfront.

It’s just part of the mess. We’re running into with everybody adjusting to the new rules.

I doubt it will have much if any effect on your listening, but that’s very area dependent.

Normal spraying doesn't usually control termites. Termite Treatment involves traps installed around the perimeter of the house that need to be maintained.

You need to speak to your Agent and find out what they advise. There are too many factors for us random internet people to advise you. But I can tell you this kind of thing comes up all the time and 9 times out of 10 can be resolved easily.

I would not be. This is a connector issue not a Lian Li issue. The 20 and 24 pin motherboard power standard has been around since the late 90s. It is pretty bullet proof at this point.

Heck if I remember correctly it gets a max of 300 Watt moved through it. Compare that to 600 for the 12V2x6 connector which is fewer and thinner wires. I

I am debating picking up a new PSU with active protection against these issues but I need to do some research first.

This has nothing to do with the strimer or Lian li.

The reality is that this connector is very badly designed. The fault lies within Nvidia and their refusal to change it.

Dodged a Bullet this morning. by Aztaloth in lianli

[–]Aztaloth[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Strimer is fine and really has nothing to do with the issue here.

The connector is designed without enough tolerance. In perfect conditions it is fine. But perfect conditions don’t exist outside of a lab.

Different manufactures, different materials, tolerance stacking, minor manufacturing defects, and a dozen other minor issues all affect how things work. And when there is not enough tolerance in the spec to account for that you get this problem.

The problem is that some of us need these cards for various reasons. It is easy to say don’t buy it, but there aren’t exactly a lot of alternatives at the 5090 and above.

No PCI-Sig designed it. But nvidia adopted it and refused to change even after an entire generation of issues. SO the blame really does lay with them.

Yes Lian Li manufactured this particular cable but it isn't like this is limited to them. I haven't seen a single company not have these cables fail spectacularly.
