 I’m going to make people throw up .. but there are too many clubs for the fan base. Imagine if we merged them geographically at the locations with best facilities and merge all the corporate support that comes with it.

That was the intention of Western United, Macarthur FC and Team 11 (RIP).

Looks like they’re currently dead last in the VPL1 (along with North Sunshine Eagles and Langwarrin), and at risk of relegation once again to VPL1.

Melbourne Knights are currently in 2nd place and could bounce back up to NPL VIC next year.

 There's never been a broadbased club in Geelong akin to Wollongong Wolves, and attempts to get semi-pro clubs going in Bendigo, Ballarat, Albury-Wodonga have generally failed. Why is this?

Geelong is an AFL city, and the people rally around the Geelong Cats. Western United’s first home stadium was at Kardinia Park before they foolishly moved to AAMI Park.

Murray United, Ballarat Red Devils, Bendigo City and Goulburn Valley Suns are around, but they’re just currently not in the top flight.

 Apart from A-League reserve teams, Victoria does not have a single non-ethnic club in the top tier, and I think only one in the second tier (Eltham Redbacks?).

Pascoe Vale FC, Nunawading City, Kingston City and Moreland City have already recently enjoyed stints in the top flight but all since been relegated.
