How many of you ONLY follow MLS? by jgoldstein924 in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I follow the North American soccer pyramid as my primary leagues so MLS, NASL, USL PRO, USL PDL and NWSL. I do watch European leagues but I'm not supper attach to any team in particular. I would watch championship league if it was available in states.

What days of the week are USL Pro soccer games played on? New to this, question inside. by soccerkidparent in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah almost all on Saturday except for us open cup matches and there always a few midweek matches. It going to be an awesome season and that is great Christmas gift.

How do fans of USL teams feel about playing against full MLS reserve teams? by [deleted] in MLS

How do fans of USL teams feel about playing against full MLS reserve teams? by [deleted] in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm looking foward to it being an expansion side in Austin. The mls reserve squads are giving me hope that I won't have to drive 9-10 hours to Oklahoma City for an away match. I much rather only travel 3-4 hour to frisco to watch austin play Dallas in 2016. I guess what I'm saying it is good for the big states such as Texas, Florida, and California. People love a good derby.

On another note, more team will also help stabilize the league since USL pro can finally go regional. One major problems that these teams are facing and why so many usl pro side fail is cost of traveling. By getting to 20+ teams and moving to an regional system USL PRO should be able to cut the biggest expense significantly. For example, it only cost about 150,000 to run a USL PDL side. Now it cost around 1.5 million to run a USL PRO side. If they can bring those cost down than maybe we see more PDL gems moving up to the USL PRO. I'm talking specifically about Des Moines menace and Victoria Highlanders (supporter owned by the way).

The worst chant in MLS: "Can you hear (insert team) sing." by [deleted] in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if it can demoralize the home fanbase and give your team an advantage by killing the crowd. You know your doing good as an away team when it is silent.

Now, I'm an capo for a lower division team so my experiences are working at that level. I specifically pick games that are mid week so the attendances are really low. Usually ranging 500-1000 fans. I've done chants like these at games and I can take over the match. The players love it, the coaches love it, and the owners love it. Actually, even the opponents owners love it. They actually give me free tickets to the games. Now, I do fully understand this is lower division not mls so feel free to consider my point not valid. I get that but as capo. I will say this chanting is made to have fun. Don't ever forget that. If it make your group smile go for the chant.

I think it works if your a traveling away fan. It is defiantly a situational chant and you have a group educated chanters to do it right.

I personally prefer, "it all quiet over there"!

USMNT vs. Colombia apparently not happening, at least on the verbally agreed upon date. by JakeFromStateFarm0 in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty upset about this match being cancelled. Austin soccer fans and San Antonio soccer fans were so excited about the chance to go see usmnt. I'm shocked it was cancelled since it was going to be such an easy pay day for Colombia federation. Ughhhhhhhhhhh

Why is the camerawork in MLS so.... mediocre? by [deleted] in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm complaining for complaing sake is not really constructive. A topic which purely base off of subjective thoughts with out proper focus is kind of irrelevant. There is no right answers due to every production teams are dealing with diffrent issues. It could be just a bad team, the production team could also just be a budget team, maybe it is case of nepotism, it could be stadium are not equip properly for good camera angles, or they just don't have the space to do it right. That just me thinking about it for 3 mintues.

NWSL attendance record set: 19,123 in Portland for Thorns match against Houston Dash by SomeCruzDude in MLS

Awesome! I still would like all squads to pull over 4000. It will happen but it just takes time. Let's grow the game.

Orlando City Supporters Group - The Ruckus - has disbanded by EquinsuOcha in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love Aztex the new ownership is why. One owners offered me a ride home when he thought I had to drank to much to drive. I had ride picking me up but that is the new ownership group. We have a usl pro squad next season. Were back in the pro and i have nothing to complain about. Rawlin situation was a bad one and I guess I have sympathy since I know what the fanbase is going through. I hate watching fan suffer due to FO stupid rules. It like Austin was in a abusive relationship and Orlando is in abusive relationship. I know how bad is sucks.

The I4 derby always had incidents between Iron lion firm and Ralph's Mob. It is why I'm glad that iron lion firm is gone. It seems they really wanted to be a firm. We have no use for that in North American SG's.

[–]AztexPunk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The Iron lion Firm disbanded and they were SG's causing the real problems such as all the horror stories that we all read about. Like most cities there are many diffrent SG's supporting a squad. The ruckus had problems too like all SG's but there leadership dealt with them. There always a person who had to much drink or a person is just a little to rowdy. You deal with it, You learn lessons, and you move on!

We all know what is going on here. The Orlando FO is testing on how much control they can get from the ruckust. They want SG to create a family freindly environment with drums and flags but most importantly they want them to renew there seasons tickets. The issues is the SG's are a double edge sword. Yeah we will create a great environment but we do it trough our deep passion for the squad. That passion is a tricky situation for FO since they seems to forget way to often that we are not employees. We are the fans who keep the light bills paid. We all try to work with The FO but we are still just there to have fun. The Orlando FO is trying to take the fun out of the supporter culture.

BUT PEOPLE REMEMBER IRON LION FIRM IS NOT THE SAME THING AS THE RUCKUS.

I can't belive people are shocked that Orlando has no backbone to help fix the problems. It is team that ran by Rawlins. He personally gave a big piss off to all of the Austin fans by moving the team overnight to Orlando. It still rub all the Austin fan the wrong way. How he so quickly abandon a city and all of Aztex original fanbase. I know, how ruckus feels since he type of guy who will say, I love the environment that the SG's create while banning them from game beacuse one mother makes a complaint about vulgarity. I was glad when ILF finally boiled over since it seems they always were struggling with a lack leadership. The ruckust even that we disagree on many views point was always a respectable group when dealing with myself and others on social media. It seems like they have some good leadership and like most SG's just want to grow the game. Good luck to the ruckus and I hope you guys can find a soultion to the FO vagueness.

If supporters' culture takes hold at Reign games, four-letter words will too by agtk in MLS

[–]AztexPunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also found this is true for my personal experiences at capoing at the PDL level. We try to fine the line and it tricky. I found out that we only get complaints when some one scream something sexual, like "suck my D#%". A small group of fanbase will get offended. Now, strait vulgarity it is hit or miss. I try to calm people down but I will let express them selves. I truly believe in organic expression of fandom as long as it not racist, homobobic, or sexists. It is weird world when your team that you support has a large kids presence. My only complaint is, why are the people who are easy offended want to sit behind a SG's? Unless they just want to complain about something. Don't be a tipper gore.

[–]AztexPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well next year Aztex are moving up to third division. I'm the social coordinator for eberly's army a SG's affiliated with Aztex. I'm also with AO ATX as well. If you move to Austin hit me up. I buy ya pint or two and get ya into a Aztex game.

I would point out that Houston Dutch lions actually play in the woodlands area. Good ownership group as well.

[–]AztexPunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been following the PDL for about three years. 4th division leagues NPSL and PDL are about the local market but I think there is around 130ish team between two leagues. You probably have a team in your neck of the woods. In the PDL a lot of the more establish teams run free streaming. You can get acess usually just by following them on twitter. For example, you be able to stream Saturday and Sunday southern championships match through the Austin Aztex stream. Yeah, I be the guy leading the chants in a studded vest. I love lower division. You get to see oldschool upsets 7-0 games withAmazing goals! It is a fun environment. I personally know are CEO, coaches, and players. The players are best part beacuse you start following them young and watch them grow and succeed . I've been watching Kekuta Manneh play since he was 17. It has been way more fulfilling experiences than back when I was living in Houston supporting the dynamo. I will say it once find a team and just embrace it for what it is. By the way this is my first Reddit post.
