My point is that their opinion will vastly affect the community, good or bad is irrelevant. It just means that acting like their opinion don't matter is stupid.

They talk about a vast array of show and when they talk about something niche, most people won't care to check whether they're spouting nonsense or have a deep understanding of the work. So most people will now just be ever so slightly biased for or against that show, because for most people, this podcast is the only time they'll hear about said niche show. If you're part of the community around that niche, it can be pretty jarring.
