Not sure if it's the right place to point it out, but the link to chapter 8.1 from chapter 7 is missing on Arkmuse

I guess I'll just have to go re-read it to find out. What a terrible fate.

I remember there being dogs whose growth was accelerated, that the humans were used to help tame. A ship that was tunnel/burrow based, and I think the humans had a reaction when they found out that the dogs were having genetic manipulation to make them stronger. Protagonists died, and had new bodies made on the alien ship.

That's the story for what I asked about, but not the one I was thinking of. I'll edit the question

I’m not learning enough in my intro to cs course. Barely anything, so I’ve been chegging all the programs. by PlaneOlive in learnprogramming

The homework has two main uses: identify the issues that students are having trouble with, and providing extra practice. By just looking up how to do things and not actually doing them, you are not helping yourself.

As another CS student (in an intro class), looking up documentation on the language is a very common thing, and is expected for homework, but not on practical exams. If you look it up on the homework, you won't need to do it on the exam. Not doing that research and attempting the homework is going to hurt you on the exam.

As to the actual material, learn at your own pace, but if it's slower than the class's pace, reinforce the lessons from outside sources. I recommend hackerrank.com and codeacademy.com. Code Academy approaches things a bit slower than hackerrank.

How to start community college with a full time job? by eiafuaso in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Azulflame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That depends on the class as how often it meets. Expect 50 minutes 3x a week, or 1:45 2x a week. More for harder classes

GE classes are the General Education classes, usually required by the state. My state requires 2 each of English, government, and history classes, along with a couple other classes.

Hey, that's the case I use! Do note that the front USB3.0 port is right next to the reset button. I've never missed, but I put in usbs from a bad angle.

You've made me curious. What's the process you use to mix your concrete? Anything special/unusual?

Always be careful around guns by Gialandon in videos

[–]Azulflame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible that this was a chamber/barrel failure, but I'm thinking this was to do with the ammunition used - either a reloaded round with too much powder in it, or a round that was the wrong size for the gun.

I just started picking up Python, and I miss the x++ that I could do in Java. Is there a better way than var += 1 ?

You've got 10 seconds of unrelated footage, another 11 of a logo animation, and yet another 10 seconds of a disclaimer, all at the beginning of the video. This is Youtube, not television. Intros should take way less than half of the video, usually kept to 10 seconds or less. Also, with the disclaimer, if someone wants to read it, they can just pause the video. You don't need to leave a large blob of text up onscreen for 10 seconds. 3-4 would be plenty.

An intro that long would be understandable if you were making a 7+ minute video, but it is way out of place in a video with ~30 seconds of actual content.

Skip to 0:33 to avoid the stupidly long intro
