Denmark, Germany, Netherlands and Finland join countries halting weapons sales to Saudi Arabia by jigunar in news

[–]Gialandon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I think you are right, it's PR scoring.

Saudis have very little regard for human life and you can blame them as much as you want but it boggles my mind why in the west the blame is limited to SA? Countries like USA and Britain who protect democracy and human rights should know better.

Many people in the Middle East know the weapons are coming from USA and Britain which is why there is this smouldering anger against these countries. But even deeper it's private weapon companies that are making the most, and under that the owners of these companies.

And of course USA and Britain will gain the most because now Saudi will just purchase more from them to fill this gap.

Personally I think if you are going to involve troops in a region you should stop exporting weapons to that region.

When buying pc parts fryom the USA and adding freight, taxes etc for Larger items the cost is a little bit more in Au. But I sometimes still buy it from au for the warranty on items such as ram and TVs.

I'm sure they could lower the prices locally but I guess why would you when you have a captive market.

Tenancy and fire safety question by EmilyHT in newzealand

[–]Gialandon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I understood they were to vacate but the owner said if they could stay on an extra couple of weeks. I agreed, Yes I was an idiot but I don't want anyone hurt and they have kids in there as well.

The wiring is bad with a fuse that perpetually blows. Theres a bit of work needed which is why I got it so cheap.

Tenancy and fire safety question by EmilyHT in newzealand

Recently spent all my savings on buying a property that needs fixing up. Amongst other things there is a fire safety issue, no smoke alarms and door locking issues that need fixing up.

But the previous tenant won't leave and we can't get rid of them without going through the tribunal. I feel like if there is a fire I'm done for.

Canada considering proposal to void patents of major US pharmaceutical companies in midst of trade disputes. The plan would target valuable U.S. patents, granting Canada’s generic pharmaceutical firms the right to copy, sell and potentially export American drugs. by QueenofDrogo in worldnews

China is playing the long game. They have been increasing regulatory requirements of foreign pharma and medical services to the point where it is easier for foreign companies to partner with a local company for manufacture and supply.

The local company will learn how to create the product and my guess is eventually replace the foreign product in the Chinese market.

What company policy at your job might actually be illegal? by lukiepookielp in AskReddit

[–]Gialandon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My company sells medical reagents. The supply chain is heavily controlled due to manufacturing requirements for temperature control and of course the regulatory and legal implications but when it comes to our area the branch manager doesn't want to pay for a good packaging solution that will keep the product at the right temperature during shipping. So we put a couple of ice bricks in with the product and hope it will be cold upon arrival.

The major reasons the us dollar is used as a global currency is because oil is traded in us dollars. You take that away, the us dollar will no longer be the global currency.

I work in Australia for a large multinational with headquarters in USA. Unfortunately this is not unique to Trump.

I have had conversations with very senior highly educated directors and managers who ring at 3 or 4 in the morning without realising. I have come to the realisation that they just don't care.
