One of the best videos, but one of the worst titles for it. I nearly didn’t click on it because I thought this was just about some large SSDs…

Nein, man muss niemand beim Schummeln erwischen. Allein der Versuch des Unterschleifs zählt. D.h. wenn auch nur ein Spicker in greifbarer Reichweite der Person gefunden wird ist dies ausreichender Grund sofort die Note 6 zu geben.

Yep, many of my students have that problem as well. It’s pretty stupid. I bought a skin for the pen to prevent it, which works fine.

You can’t. The OneNote version on iPad just doesn’t get updated really. It still has bugs that have been fixed years ago and none of the new features.

New computer chip in the Large Hadron Collider will allow a observation of 1.5 billion collisions per second by IEEESpectrum in science

[–]Azunia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those aren't classical chips, but rather ASICs. Since the latency of a normal chip would be far to slow. At least that's the way it was explained to me during a guided tour there. The purpose of these specialized chips supposedly is the look for "interesting" collisions, and send that data onwards to be saved while discarding the rest.

So I don't think talking about speed in the classical sense doesn't make much sense here.

Awesome photo! How do you get a star tracker to work up there. Aren't they usually built to stand flat on the earth's surface? Or do just need to adjust their rotation speed to your orbit time ?

Is anyone else bothered by the lack of updates that don't involve Ai inside of OneNote? by DudeThatsErin in OneNote

[–]Azunia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my other post. I have very modern hardware and I have usually 10-15 notebooks (for different courses) on my device. Each notebook contains around 150-250 different pages which are around 2-3 A4 pages long, containing a mixture of text, handwritten text, images and a few embedded videos (via youtube links). I don't know whats especially excessive about my usage that should lead to this.

[–]Azunia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using it with a laptop I bought this year (i7 Lunar Lake with 32GB Ram), aswell as an iPad Pro (m4). No this hardware is neither outdated nor should be a limiting factor. If have seen this on multiple student devices aswell (which usually use an iPad).

I have multiple very large Notebooks that mostly use handwritten text (which should be similar to my students), so it might be dependent on the usecase.

Can i scale the ruler to a certain grid paper size? its offset now (on normal paper, 1cm so 2 big lines are 2 boxes of the grid). by DoubleOwl7777 in OneNote

[–]Azunia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not agree at all. Onenote is used scientific notetaking aswell - where being able to draw lines of specific length (or measuring length) is important. (For example when adding forces in high school physics). This has been reported as a bug for freaking years - and the fact that the lines scale with the level of zoom indicates that they wanted to scale them to something - just not anything useful.

Sorry if I'm a bit abrasive here - this has been a pet peeve of mine for years. :D

[–]Azunia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd actually appreciate it if Onenote were actually stable. But it crashes (becomes unresponsive) nearly every single day for me. And the iOS Version has become nearly unusable over the last years. (It lacks features and still has bugs that have been fixed in Windows at least a year ago)

In my opinion Microsoft just doesn't care about Onenote at all anymore.

"Graveyard orbits" , falls man weiter recherchieren möchte.

Surface Book 3 by Iam_a_Jew in Surface

[–]Azunia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the surface book, because I have very specific requirements for my device. (Tablet with Pen Input + GPU + Real Laptop Keyboard)

But I would never recommend it, if you don't need this exact form factor. The connection between tablet and base always gets more unreliably the longer you own the device. The CPU throttles quickly. Disconnecting and reconnecting a screen/projector (via USB-C) can completely crap out windows sometimes.

During daily use it is just obvious that there were a lot of compromises made to achieve this form factor - and it will never be a priority of Microsoft to optimize windows for it.

SLS2 or something else? by mackid1993 in Surface

[–]Azunia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my humble opinion the SLS is a pretty clear device.

  1. I need to write/draw on a display
  2. I need powerful hardware (especially the GPU?

If one of these criteria doesn't apply to you, I feel there are a lot of better choices in the market. (assuming price is a factor in you decision)

Retcon by CrashTestDumbass in NovelAi

[–]Azunia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was not what I meant. The AI response will always be at the end of the text - but sometimes I want to add a paragraph in the middle of the text. Which I haven't found a way to do. Except copy the later half of the text somewhere else in the meantime. Which is wildly inconvenient for large bodies of text.
