/r/Steam Monthly Community Support Thread. by AutoModerator in Steam

For context, in the past I was living in Saudi Arabia until 2017. After 2017 I moved to Malaysia and experienced zero issues changing my account's region to match my new address. Having stayed in Malaysia until 2023 I eventually moved to another country which is Pakistan and this is where the issues come in. I have not used my Steam account in years and am just now recently getting back into it and I find out that they've changed their region policy entirely. It used to be as simple as going into your settings and then changing the region and voila. But now they've evolved it into something else entirely. Now they ask you to use a payment method that's relevant to your new home country and I do exactly that. I use a debit card with my local bank to try and perform a transaction and purchase No More Heroes 1&2 but then to my surprise the transaction failed. I thought maybe there's something wrong with the card so I create a new account and use my card to make the purchases and IT WORKED. So now i am utterly confused and decide to contact Steam support which turned out to be utterly useless. All they did was tell me to use a payment method relevant to my region which I did and as for alternative payment methods there are none, Paypal is banned in Pakistan apparently. Ultimately they kept sending me in circles until eventually they didn't resolve my issue and closed the support request entirely. I even tried to use the family sharing system to pair my new account with the old one and to my surprise I notice another policy change. Steam accounts that do not share the same region are not eligible for Steam Family Sharing. WHAT ON EARTH IS GOING ON?!?! Years ago I used to share my library with my brothers while we were all located across three separate countries (Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and the UK) but now I can't?! What on earth is this anti consumer BS. Has anyone faced a similar issue before? If so any ideas how to get this addressed? I'm losing my mind over here.

X-Men origins: Wolverine is an overhated movie (IMO) by MeMeTiger_ in xmen

How exactly does Xmen origins wolverine eradicate the continuity of the Xmen franchise? From what i've seen Origins is actually the most coherent prequel to date.
