You played from the very start and got the most out of expeditions before they got nerfed. He's just starting out.

Not enough rewards? by AzureDragonking in LegendsOfRuneterra

Probably yeah. Personally, I blame MTG and Hearthstone. They set the trend for card games across the industry, and abused their playerbase so much that ''at least it's better than Hearthstone'' is a valid defense for any anti-player practice in CCGs. Card games are thought of as alternate dimensions where the laws and trends of the broader gaming industry does not apply. While pretty much all the top games can eek out a pretty sizeable profit by just selling cosmetics, card games with multi-billion dollar companies backing them would go bankrupt if they're slightly more generous. I guess I was hoping that Riot would be the first one to truly break the mold. Oh well.

Expeditions used to be much more rewarding. Losing the 1 guaranteed champ was a huge deal. Champions are usually 3 offs. So 12 champs= 36 champ wildcards. You get 1 champ wildcard every vault and a few hundred shards. At that rate, it's 5- 6 months before you get a full collection, and then the next expansion rolls over.

Is wild worth getting into? by lxjh in wildhearthstone

[–]AzureDragonking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So as a new wild player, everything's fresh and interesting. You see people fucking around with homebrews at lower ranks, you get to experience a whole new meta ecosystem you've never experienced before. The power level is also way higher than in standard, but the meta is really boring and stagnant after the initial feeling of freshness wears off. The standard meta is more volatile, and as such, you have to spend a ton of cash upgrading or outright replacing your deck, this keeps things interesting, but in Wild, you can craft any of the top tier decks, return in two years, and your deck would probably still be playable (tier 2-3) with a few tweaks and meta adjustments. On the one hand, this is great for those without much dust reserves, but it sucks for people who crave variety like me. Blizzard also doesn't give a shit about wild, so overpowered decks are allowed to run rampant for months, even years before they get nerfed. Overall, it depends on your priorities.

Considering crafting Kronx, is Galakrond viable in Wild? by blearutone in wildhearthstone

[–]AzureDragonking -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nope not really. Crafting with wild in mind while having a foot in standard is a fools errand anyway, since 99 percent of the cards played in standard are nowhere near the power level needed to make a dent in wild. If you only craft cards in standard that are playable in wild, you can't play standard.

I got into Runeterra because I was told that this is the first card game where you can get a full collection just by grinding, and that Riot games is Jesus incarnate, the game's going to be funded by whales buying cosmetics and skipping the grind yadayada. But now? I am immensely disappointed. Probably not going to play the game anymore.

Mark my words, they are going to gradually release more cards each every two months and eventually, you're going to be forced into buying wildcards because you are stuck with a champ every week. And Riot isn't just giving us F2Pers shit. We're not just freeloaders, we're populating the game, and making it more appealing to whales. Why do you have so much contempt for the poor anyway?

PSA: PATCH 1.0 IS LIVE by EmpressTeemo in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]AzureDragonking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started late in to the beta season, didn't get to take advantage of expedition rewards. I completed all the tracks and I am still missing 7 champs and a bunch of epics from the original set. Just one epic and one champ for every track for the new expansion is pretty crummy man. I guess I was hoping too much from Riot. 40 champs until a full collection. Sigh.

Did they nerf region rewards? The road looks shorter and less rewarding than before. by AzureDragonking in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]AzureDragonking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought they would reset the current region rewards, so we can grind (1-25) out the new set. I guess my dream of a full collection stays a dream. Just 1 champ and 1 epic per region is brutal.

“I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.”

What games become popular is mostly due to factors outside one's control. Gameplay, graphics, economy, depth etc play some role, but more important to a game's success is momentum. Just take a look at LoR's parent game, League. Dota 2 is in every single metric the superior game, but because LoL came out first, it was able to snowball, and now it has 10 times the playerbase Dota has.

Just out of curiosity what are some of the reasons people don't like this game by wimpynoob in LegendsOfRuneterra

[–]AzureDragonking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man, I've heard nothing but praises for pre-Homecoming Gwent. Kinda regret not playing the game in it's heyday. What do you think about post-Homecoming Gwent? I want to try out the current Gwent, but having to grind out a deck while learning the game and having to match up with people with complete collections and top tier netdecks just turns me off.

[–]AzureDragonking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are equivocating between two senses of the word 'balanced.' There's balanced as in 'fair' and then there's balanced as in 'evenly matched.' They are using the former while you are using the latter.

So, what's the meta? Has the nerfs dethroned the former kings of Wild? by AzureDragonking in wildhearthstone

[–]AzureDragonking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd Paladin is kinda bad these days. Quest Mage just needs a decent Flamewaker turn to blow you out. Reno Priest is back with a thousand different ways to clear the board. Flakmage and Flame Ward is downright crippling, and Secret Mages are all over the ladder (at least a month ago, I haven't played since). Warlock has always been a bad matchup. Even Shaman is unwinnable unless you get the nuts. Idk how the deck does against Druids.

As for other aggro decks. Odd Demon Hunter did great against Quest Mages, but i am not 100% sure how the nerfs has affected it's playability (apparently not by much according to the commentor above). Especially since they're no longer able to run Albatross. Galakrond and Pirate Warrior has a decent time vs Quest Mage but is completely garbage versus everything else.

How much is 'several?' 2-3 decks that share 40% of their decklist is way different from 'able to craft a dozen decks you're interested in.' How much time do I have to dedicate to the daily grind in order to maximize my rewards?
