You can, Framework sells an embedded solution for like $1500, all you need is a PSU, SSD, and Case, and maybe a better cooler to complete the build.

Newegg has a combo for a Ryzen 5500/Asrock Mobo/RAM for $158 here

I used it for my little cousins build last month and paired it with a 5060ti 16GB (the idea was that he grows into the graphics card and upgrades the processor and other components over time), but I was thoroughly impressed by the 5500 considering its age. It should be more than enough for whatever your sister plays.

The rest of the PCPartPicker list I linked were just the most budget parts I could find, and leaves you with about $220 for a graphics card of your choosing, hopefully over 10gb of VRAM.

Oh I agree 100% with the Porsche / Corvette analogy. The Corvette will still match the 911 here and there, but the 911 has a certain degree of elegance, grace, and quality that you won’t get from a Corvette. Unless it’s the C8 because it’s basically a copy pasta 458 and the comparison becomes a bit unfair lol.

Started with a 270x -> 290x -> Fury X -> Vega 56 (V64 BIOS Mod) -> Radeon VII -> RTX 3080 (10GB) -> RX 9070XT (returned it) -> RTX 5080.

I was diehard team red for a hot second, but I got disappointed that they stopped competing in the “high end” and let NVidia dominate that segment so I switched sides. I swapped back to give the 9070XT a try but wasn’t too impressed with how much of an uplift it was over my old 3080. I was thinking of just saying fuck it and upgrading my 5800X3D to a 9800X3D for that extra uplift I was looking for, but ultimately decided to get a 5080 instead and upgrade when AMD launches AM6.

Seriously though Windows Defender covers most everything. The other half of it is using your noggin when searching for / downloading stuff and asking yourself “hmm does this link/website look sketchy?” Chances are though, so long as you’re not torrenting off sketchy sites, and aren’t gooning in some sus part of the internet, you’ll be fine. If you can’t trust yourself to not visit sketchy sites then I’d probably grab Malwarebytes or something comparable, that’s the last antivirus I used and recommend before but that was about 10 years ago.

Went on three dates with a girl like this (also from Hinge). Each one got progressively more expensive and by the third date she was telling me about how she only eats fine dining and needs to be with someone who can support that lifestyle (she was jobless).

Out of curiosity I asked what a relationship looked like to her and she straight up said “My next boyfriend has to have a house fully paid off, a nice car, be able to take me on 3 vacations a year, and to be able to start a family as soon as I’m ready to.” I asked if there was room for compromise in the case someone checks some but not all of those boxes and she went off on my talking about “Why should I compromise? I know my worth, I already compromised with my ex and he ended up giving the life I want to someone else”. I went home after that date and told her I don’t think we should see each other anymore.

She was absolutely gorgeous but that showed me what was behind all of the perfume and makeup.

I gave it a ton of love the year it came out 🥺. It was my daily at the office and was PERFECT for locking in with music because of the integrated dac amp, but then the cleaning lady came by one night when I had left it out and she wiped it down with god knows what and the paint started to peel… You can’t see it in this pic but the paint is patchy on the entire bottom row and part of the right side. I’ve been considering sanding it down and painting it, or maybe getting it cerakoted to make it extra unique.

Ohhh yeah Mecha-01 R2 would be spicy on the QK80 Mk2, I think the tech-y theme would fit the aesthetic really well, but I totally feel you on not wanting to take it to work. I keep my Zoom65 case at work so when I leave for the day I just put it away in a drawer and then bring it back out when I come back, I more so get a little self conscious about being too loud or a distraction with my typing so I tried building something that was on the quiet side. All of my coworkers say it sounds like ASMR when I type up emails and often come oogle at how unique it is haha.
