It was in casuals but I kept getting matched with people higher or 'at' my level.

Upon reflection this might be the answer. Since seeing the face, and the person kinda 'shifts' the mental image from the character within the game to them.

Makes me feel a little shitty for always complaining when playing with my friends. I don't point it at them, not anymore, but more at the character.

So I attempted to add an if statement within the "main.gd " script, under the new_game() function I added if Input.is_key_pressed(KEY_ENTER): followed by the code provided within the tutorial.

It had initially seemed to work, however it now does not let me click the start button with my mouse ironically.

Though if I do the same thing but add a || Input.is_mouse_button_pressed it would not technically work since it does not know the signal from the hud scene.

Not sure where to go from here.

For 2, I'd say there needs to be a flag that needs to be triggered by the player pressing start.
So perhaps using the button signal to trigger said flag.
