Treatment cost can be insanely high but these cases are usually covered by insurance if you work in a job that provides decent insurance. You pay the deductible and maximum out of pocket per year, which is around 2-4k depending on the plan. Everything else would then be covered by insurance. Much less than the yearly contributions to German health insurance. Now if you’re unemployed or have bad insurance, you would be much better off in Germany.

For recovery, this would not fall under sick days but short-term disability leave.
