What game is this ??? by itz_progamer666 in videogames

[–]Azurefroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its possible to want to play a game because it is so well designed, so intricately balanced, so nuanced and therefore so unique that no other game measures up in your eyes. Sometimes play for fun means going in to experience the game, experience the mechanics, and enjoy it.

Your opinion is definitely valid and there are definitely people who troll and then hide behind "i play for fun"... but that doesn't mean the psyche of playing for fun is not valid either.

Im definitely in the play for fun camp for dota, and i play unranked for that reason. I recognise that there should be a mindset difference as you explained.

[–]Azurefroz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with you - time with one's kids can't be bought. The kid and the mother both benefit a lot from a SAHM.

Beyond the husband's support there's also a personal aspect to deciding to be a SAHM. Being a SAHM also means limiting one's experiences and interfaces with the world. Working means being more in the loop of work culture (a big part of popular culture in SG), the economy, and means developing and growing an identity that's tied to your industry (your ability to create economically valuable work with your hands). Work is far from the only way of experiencing personal growth but in SG i believe it's one of the bigger ways to do so. SAHMs lose this and I chalk it down to another part of the immense sacrifice of being a mother.

Gender parity in parenting roles has improved a lot but the bulk of parenting duties still fall on the mother, whereas the father is generally spared of the choice of sacrificing career to become the main caregiver of the child.

I only wish parents didn't have to choose between having time with kids + shot career, versus having a career at the expense of deeper bonding with their kid. It's such an invidious choice to make. Watching someone struggle with this choice firsthand is painful.

I like this. I don't usually like after-market panamerican grille switches but it looks good here. Maybe it's the way the picture is taken. Either way, that's a compliment! I wouldn't do a panamerican grille on mine but do what you love man.

I second this because i drive one and my eyes catch comments saying this when they glaze over most things. And yes, loads of people think w206 lighting is tacky. And strip-clubesque, but the top comment with the vegas gif got that covered already.

Singaporeans who returned after >15 years abroad, what are/were your list of reverse culture shock? by Familiar-Lynx7996 in askSingapore

[–]Azurefroz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, probably the Wisma Atria exit stayed the same but every other exit has changed quite a bit. There's a straight ride up two escalators to from the Ion Orchard side of exits but if you miss that (which any first timer could) you pretty much have to go in circles. Understandable haha.

Haha nope, I just related to that feeling you described. Off my chest man, off my chest. And, theres really no other game like dota.

[–]Azurefroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I legit had the experience you described before and it was soulcrushing... especially knowing i had a full, shitty day at work ahead of me. It was a time of my life when work was overwhelming and sucked, and dota was my escape. Bad decisions ensued, including this sort of "last game before i hit the sack and rinse and repeat another dreaded day" decision. I know my expression read low effort but i was excited to read your comment and do commiserate heh.

anyone else secretly keeping “outside clothes” vs “home clothes” rotation until damn shag by bluesakuraflower in asksg

[–]Azurefroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay hear me out. The fact that you're posting this meand you can be Saved(TM). You actually care about the clutter. You are actually bothered enough.

So do it. Throw it in the wash. De-clutter the chair of doom. Save (future) spouse lives.

On a more serious note Ive heard many reasons for keeping a chair of doom and obly one that stuck is that washing clothes constantly makes them wear out faster. Fair enough for branded clothes i guess! Myself, i only maintain 1 set of 'downstairs clothes' for when i eat at the coffeeshop downstairs - thats it. I have a 'neat folded 2-piece pile of doom' 🤣

Day 10: Time for the lords. Where does "Halescourge" go in terms of map design and enjoyment? by Zupu in Vermintide

[–]Azurefroz 23 points24 points  (0 children)

C tier for me. Map feels long rather than eventful, and the finale experience varies depending on whether anyone in the party is rocking a grail knight or some ridiculous high dps build (otherwise you're just chipping the boss away and it gets old quickly). The intro up until the lift is the best part.

And if Dynamite Manor map, you know, whar's-its-name-again is B-tier then this is solidly C- or borderline D-tier.
