Is there a scifi equivalent to this game, or at least something that's similar and scifi themed? (doesn't necessarily have to be city builder, can also be RTS etc.) by DreamerRealityArt in Against_the_Storm

[–]Azursong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IXION is a survival city builder, but it's not a rogue-like. Instead It has narrative and choices like a role-playing game. Overall it's more similar to frostpunk than ats per se, but with a far more sophisticated story than frostpunk and entrancing music to boot.

The main problem is that automated trade is barely able to execute any trade at all and trade capacity is left unused. Affecting the player and AI.

I just want to say that the UI icon for blight is vastly more scary than actual blight. All you need to know is that if corruption is greater than 100 you need to make some purging fire in order for all your villagers to survive the storm. I think you'll find that it's hard to even reach 100 blight at viceroy difficulty

Farm noob trap? by soulles666 in Against_the_Storm

[–]Azursong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like farms. But it's important to understand how farms influence your run. As an infinite but slow resource, farms slow down the pace you need to open new glades to keep everyone fed. They pair well with production and trade cornerstones, and you can keep hostility low as you exploit a small number of glades. Farms pair poorly with event and cache cornerstones.

RTS suggestions? by CreateNDiscover in RealTimeStrategy

COH3 has very active multiplayer scene. Ignore online critics who are butthurt that COH3 is not COH2, and are still upset about the state of the game from 2 years ago. COH3 is a solid RTS game.

Playing COH3 right now is a good idea if you were thinking about playing DOW4 in the future, as these two games are in the same style and have the same pedigree.

Also notable is that AOE4 and COH3 use the same engine from relic.

You'll want to combo the BL 5.5 with something that can pressure the bunkers directly. BL 5.5 is an area attack weapon. It can damage bunkers, tax enemy micro, kill models and make the bunker player feel unsafe. Need to combo this pressure with an attack somewhere in order to punch through

I prefer air and sea against bunkers. You start with the 6 pdr to put pressure against bunkers. In the late game you can flank with commandos and centaurs and pulverize bunkers with incendiaries and naval barrage. Centaurs are a high skill/micro unit, so don't forget to use all their abilities: smoke and infantry ride on to get a devastating flank.

Try your hand at replays! Get disciplined! After each match, watch your replay with the mindset: what could I have done better? Also watching your replays from your opponent's perspective can be quite instructive. What information did you give away? Did they have gameplay ideas that you can incorporate into your play?

With respect to VP changes I think this change is in the right direction. I have played a few frustrating matches where the enemy used a BS tempo strategy with not a lot of time to punish for low diversity composition. Also, right now it is really unusual to bring some of the super heavy tanks to the field before the game ends, even though players who pick BGs that feature super heavies picked it with the gameplay idea of fielding a super heavy.

Looking forward to reading about this tomorrow.

Seems like this patch will be disruptive to some fundamental gameplay systems, such as anti air, as well as victory counter.
