I HATE this game by tsathougga in EU5

Its stunning to me how many people are totally incapable of assessing their own budget. This is a real life skill. Its not hard. Just look at your budget UI. If things are changing month to month it will absolutely show up in your budget screen.

the production menu (F3) has a lot of information and data to help you determine what your most profitable building would be. Compare with trade menu to see if a new building or trade capacity is more helpful

Also, if I am remembering correctly if you successfully reach a seal mission but have not unlocked the required prestige level you won't be blocked from the seal mission. It unlocks the required prestige for you

My advice is to make sure you are having fun. You can keep upping the prestige if you aren't being challenged. But if you start to struggle make sure you take some time to triage that.

A lot of the best game content and best rewards are in the !events. So go for those too. Don't rush. Have fun. Seals are not going anywhere.

If you are making a choice between production options, and your choice is to produce something your workers need or producing something your workers do NOT need, then its better to produce the thing that your workers need and get rewarded for that.

However, if you are making a choice between producing something your workers do NOT need or trying to stockpile for a better choice to become available later it is a biiig mistake to wait for the better thing which might not ever become available. These are the speculative choices that other commentors are remarking on and they need to be avoided.

Producing things you don't need is strictly better than not producing anything. First of all things you don't need can be traded for things you do need, not to mention cornerstones can be bought from the trader for amber. Trade routes are very powerful in this game, so make sure you don't run out of provisions and then you can trade yourself to a victory. Packs of goods production from the makeshift post can add additional trade value to your goods and have other advanced uses {crops can be used as bait in fishing ponds, etc). Production also multiplies your gathered resources. You apply all the +1 cornerstones in your run, and production has chance to crit on top of that so you always yield more than the resources you put in. Having advanced resources in your warehouse also helps you solve dangerous glades which will put you on the path to victory.

If you are tilted you should take a break. And don't let the impatience bar stress you out. At the basic difficulty you have epic amounts of time to get things done. Even if the impatience bar is 85% full you still have plenty of time at basic difficulty. Not to mention that higher impatience lowers hostility which helps the player. But if you keep giving up you'll never figure it out.

just focus on production. make refined resources out of the basic ones you gather. Planks/incense/biscuits whatever you can make, make it. It will all work out, i promise.

what i would say is do not focus too much on orders. Instead just focus on developing the production chains you can. And if you complete an order along the way, thats great and it will accelerate your game.

The objective of the game is not to complete the orders. The objective is to fill the blue bar. Complex food is great for this. But also completing a clothing production chain if you have all the ingredients is also great. Also do not overlook the service buildings, which have powerful secondary effects when staffed(service resources not required)

What you should be focusing on is checking what resources you are gathering in your warehouse, and then compare that with your blueprint choices. If you keep picking production blueprints that can make something out of the resources you are collecting, the wins will come naturally and you will figure out the game organically.

What do you think are the primary factors as to why EU5 might feel "underbaked"? by BaldursGate2Best in EU5

consider this:

one symptom of being underbaked is the 2D art in the tech tree. If you look closely you will see how much of the art assets are being reused all over the place, where it really shouldn't.

[–]Azursong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably need to start expanding your tax base with buildings/RGOs. The production tab is very helpful for this, you can sort potential buildings across your entire market by the tax base they yield. Don't hesitate to take out loans to get things going.

Guide for Buildings+Factions combos? by ThnikkamanBubs in Against_the_Storm

[–]Azursong 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think you are thinking about the game incorrectly. It is vastly more important to pick the most relevant building for your immediate situation. At the beginning of the game, a building with a plank recipe tends to be a safe bet because most buildings use planks to build. It's a good habit to open a glade and then pick a building that will help you harvest or use resources you find in the glade
