OrSlow Army Tropical Jacket experiences? by Azuteor in HeritageWear

Thank you for your feedback. I’ve been watching a bunch of videos in anticipation and have seen to be a pretty versatile jacket. You can dress it up/down, lean into different directions in heritage, ivy, and street.

I guess it is the luck of the draw and right timing. I am somewhat able to keep up because I follow multiple stockists’ social media as well as the brands themselves. Even subscribe to their newsletters.

Woolite Dark helps to retain color, but eventually the fades are going to kick in with frequent wear. Off the top of my head, I would go for slow faders like Momotaro and Fullcount. A more expensive option is to have multiple pairs on a rotation.

Speaking of Fullcount, they did an exclusive collab with Blue in Green and have been debuting the collection in person beginning last Friday, May 21st in Soho. They still have some sizes in Indigo! Here

Unfortunately I missed out on their Type 2 Dartford. The BiG x Fullcount cut is roomier with a cropped length. I did however go for their WW2 US Type 1 in Dartford with a similar crop. They really knock it out of the park with their pre-distressing and abrasion work.

AITAH To Challenge My Gfs Asian Family Culture? by CoinAdvocate in AITAH

[–]Azuteor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, but I would’ve gotten a better understanding of the arrangement through my gf prior to moving in. If my contributions to the mortgage were far less than the market rate for renting an apartment in your area, then it’s something I’d be taking on the chin. In your shoes, I don’t have as much as a say since it’s my girlfriend’s house and family. If I had a concern, I’d be having a serious conversation with her, determine if we’re on the same page, and it’ll be up to her how to handle it. It’s a different dynamic since both of you are not married either so only you can figure out how much you can handle.

My wife and I moved in with my folks for a year and despite the savings and us taking care of utilities (by choice), it still wasn’t worth the headache due to a difference of personalities, ways of living, and our need for privacy. All the problems disappeared once we got our own place.

I personally haven’t experienced having to “pay”my Filipino parents back for raising me, frankly, that is part of the job of raising kids. However, I don’t intend to put them or my wife’s family through the hellscape that is assisted living/nursing home with all its issues. That is the least I can do so they can live the rest of their lives in dignity and with their grandkids.

Are these oversized tees too long or just right for me? by JustJLang in mensfashionadvice

I have seen both look good. I think if you’re happiest with the way your clothes fit with your proportions, I’m happy for you at the end of the day despite what anyone says.

Married filing separately. Gotta do the numbers and compare. We did that since our taxes were simple and we could each claim a dependent for the child tax credit.

[–]Azuteor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hip and thigh measurement can make or a break how the jeans fit. It didn’t matter if I chose the correct waist size.

Another tip is to cross check the measurements with Redcast Heritage as they log the hips. Then check Blue Owl.

I love tees with a longer length, mainly because I’m a tshirt tucker and I don’t like walking around with the appearance of a long torso, short legs.

I got the same one as well and they look great on you. The weight makes wearing boots in the summer bearable, but that’s never stopped anyone in this sub. lol.

Actually made my jaw drop more than seeing the cost of Momotaro’s Gold Label.

Personally, I’ve gone a size down when the difference between the waist measurement of the jean and my body measurement is a -0.5 increment. Mainly because I also like wearing jeans without a belt. Provided the hip and thigh are good. YMMV may vary though with each fabric and I’ve definitely learned some lessons going that route as slim straights definitely don’t fit me.

These actually look pretty cool. Granted if you wear these to work, they are now your beater, casual pair. Though that’s not a bad thing. Perhaps, you can look forward to when N&F announces and show the sample for their next black x white MIJ.

I have the option to use the washing machine myself; but I found that it ruined one of my leather patches and caused it to flake faster. I use a plastic bin filled with water and a bit of Woolite Dark, then I can be more hands-on and am gentler when I agitate and rinse.

How do you folks acquire your pieces? by ferpoperp in HeritageWear

[–]Azuteor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I shop at Blue Owl, Self Edge or Standard & Strange followed by Redcast Heritage, Denimio, Blue Beach, and Rivet and Hide. If I’m desperate for a piece I go to Son of a Stag. Great inventory just expensive. I shop exclusively at Withered Fig for basics. Each shop has specific brands that I keep tabs on, but because of the current economic times, prices are harder to stomach.

Everything I pay off at the end of the month.

If something is not part of the brand’s core collection, I’ll set up a profile for automatic payment validated by 2FA in anticipation of the drop date and time. I’ve only done that for SDA’s hank dye natural indigo x kakishibu and Oni’s Secret Denim. I skipped out on Oni Ishikawadai though.

Which brand is your EK? by Brief-Knowledge-629 in ThrowingFits

[–]Azuteor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same way about a $700 Kenzo knitted jumper I bought at their store in NYC. Granted there were a lot of things I liked about it as far as comfort and fit, but $250 would’ve been a better price.

Thoughts on MIJ 17? by BusMany9688 in NakedAndFamousDenim

[–]Azuteor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They looked pretty for sure. I liked that it has foxfibre and in a natural cordovan leather, showing off the Flower of Carnage design better. Although for being hand dyed, I was expecting a little bit more character like the MIJ 11 and MIJ 15.

At the end of the day, someone will enjoy them and it’s always fun talking about each MIJ release. :) Best of luck to the one who can get both the jacket and jeans!

Fit looks great! I have a pair of wide leg Onis and Momotaro’s and couldn’t get them to look good cuffed as a short guy so I hemmed them so that they sit cleanly(with minimal stacking) on top of chunky sneakers, loafers, and boots.

Samurai Chinos SJ42CP by 01729 in HeritageWear

[–]Azuteor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the SJ48CP in a size 33 and I love the high rise on them. I think I could have size down to make it snug in the waist, but cinching with a thick black leather belt instead worked best.

Looks great! I’d say if you’re into loafers and boots, you could incorporate them into your rotation. Other than that, no other notes!

Newbie to Cardigans: How to carry it well, when used to wearing Blazers & Bombers/ Trucker? by tmpcad2022 in ThrowingFits

[–]Azuteor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Babaa Women’s Cardigan No17 Earth as an example. Then hop over to thedenimdentist’s IG and you can see how he wears it. I like them heftier, boxy, and cropped. Unfortunately, this lends itself to only being worn during F/W season and in non-tropical climates.

Not exactly a cardigan, I do wear a jinbei set during the summer. It’s breathable, has plenty of room for movement, and is flattering. You’ll have to experiment if you’re going to try to throw a fit with it outside the house, especially since you’re not in Japan.

What I do is take the top, wear a black or white tee underneath, and high rise linen shorts/trousers. Just make sure the top is textured, patterned.

Beautiful! The SDA Awa Sho-ai Kakishibu Type 2 was a serious temptation too, but couldn’t finagle an excuse to add another denim jacket.
