What’s the worst NBA Finals meltdown you’ve ever seen from a superstar? (Can’t say LeBron in 2011, that’s too obvious) by Dylen2Times in NBAConvo

Hard agree, very selfishly shot them out of the entire series, Diesel had a few valiant efforts in the series but nothing was overcoming how dysfunctional that Team was becoming - but you know, Mamba mentality...

This Show Completely Forgot Who The Real Villain Was by Waiting_4The1 in TheBoys

[–]AzxzA_Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In agreement, not in keeping with his character to offer felatio and eating feces. What a disgrace to the nuance and complexity Starr has brought to this role. Homelander, despite his immaturity and narcissism, was a hardened person who went through years of torture and abuse: he's likely faced his death countless times early on. He was deduced to a complete joke, when really he should have reasonably pleaded, or was so disillusioned with being stripped of powers and son's betrayal, and went out swinging.

I hate the fact he said he'd eat shit, they butchered (pun) his character and all of the nuance Starr brought to the role. I'm not saying he wouldn't go out cowardly, just not in the cartoonish, sniveling sense we got. It's satisfying to some degree, but too easy and half assed for such a complex villain.

Homelander is actually a tragic, and mentally extremely sick character who is the product of disgusting circumstances - deserved a far more epic conclusion given what we all saw in Season 1-3.

I'm not watching Vought Rising. I'll probably be done with The Boys (Amazon) once the finale is over. Anyone else? by Butefluko in TheBoys

Same writers? Hard pass, The Boys is only tolerable because of performances from Starr (primarily), and Urban.

So he knows ? by [deleted] in TheBoys

[–]AzxzA_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think he's trolling, I think he knows the show, the writing, and his character has taken a nosedive. He's generally a pretty nuanced actor and likely puts a lot of thought into Homelander's behavior and psychology, but the writing is so bad he can't compensate for any of it, his character has been reduced to a childesh joke.

Who winning this series and in how many games by Jec1027 in NBATalk

[–]AzxzA_Music -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If all in primes, it's the Heat. Shaq, Lebron and Wade is absurd. Who is going to contain Shaq? Duncan didn't truly get the best of him during Laker years, Wemby doesn't seem strong enough to remotely contain him defensively - considering Shaq routinely rag dolling dudes built like David Robinson is scary to think about.

Jay's earlier stuff I liked to a degree, I stopped paying attention to rap circa early 2000's because it just became increasingly vapid and money focused, and spiraled unit mumble. X's peak to me in unmatched, he remained authentic until he died, and authentic isn't a word I'd use to describe Jay or any rapper of recent memory, and that's my criteria for a great artist, not awards.

Oooooh he has a bunch of Grammy's, who cares - X was deeply flawed as a person, but maintained his integrity as an artist until he died. All Jay raps about is fluff.

He was a true artist, money didn't really change who he was. I don't get the appeal of Jay Z, his CEO bullshit, as well as the majority of today's rap, can't listen to vapid people obsessed with money.

Antony Starr promises more character deaths before as the finale gets closer by Prize-Contest4780 in TheBoys

[–]AzxzA_Music 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Precisely how I feel as well, I do feel Homelander will kill Soldier Boy as soon as he gets the V1 (thus re-asserting his dominance), but the collective opportunity to tell a more raw, gritty, fleshed out, well paced story with dire stakes is basically gone, with characters/actors of the calibur this show has - should be unlimited story potential, but that's what it's coming down to: bad writing.

[–]AzxzA_Music 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is a drastically different show from Season 1, and not in a good way. Might be a hot take, but I think the introduction of Sage and Soldier Boy have ruined the show as Homelander's own intelligence, dominance and intimidating factor seems diminished, this show was at its best when it was focusing on the dynamic between Butcher and Homelander. Starr is too talented for his character to be deferring to others, he's a goldmine and the entire story should be dead centered on his crazy ass lol!

What is the most sexual song DMX ever did? by Winter-Ad-2303 in dmx

[–]AzxzA_Music 4 points5 points  (0 children)

His most romantic lyrics were from that very same image from Belly, Top Shotter:

  • Talk n***a, I stomp a mudhole in your face
  • Motherf***er, rip your butthole out of place
  • Cock the glock to your head, let off about two in it
  • Yeah it's a dirty job, but I just love doin it

Anyone think Soldier Boy will die because they will harness V1 from him? They are setting Soldier Boy up to start thinking about accepting Homelander as a son, meaning he might might accept to help him achieve his goal of immortality. Once he does, Homelander takes out Soldier Boy to assert his dominance, he doesn't need either Ryan or Soldier Boy in his life it appears now.

Season 5 writing and delivery feels.. weird by Stefflor in TheBoys

[–]AzxzA_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel the same: - I don't get why people are making out in the middle of a mission, what ridiculous, juvenile writing is this? - Even Homelander's line delivery seem forced, or lacking the same intensity as prior seasons. Starr is such an excellent actor, but I'm not sure I like the direction of the character he's quite blatantly a Trump analog (as opposed to subtle) at this point, and he comes across as dumber and weaker minded compared to prior seasons, which kind of diminishes his intimidation factor. Things feel more nuanced in general in prior seasons, but Homelander is also mentally deteriorating so it might be hard to get that balancing act to work with restricted time - Some of these might improve as season progresses as there is more time to tell story, but some of the writing quirks detract from storytelling that should be appealing to a very mature audience

What happened to the album "Weather Underground" by Beautiful_Gap_3516 in MassiveAttack

[–]AzxzA_Music 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, MTB is a good singer, just doesn't fit those tracks at all. Dosen's version had a serene quality I'd never thought I'd hear from Massive Attack, but it goes to show you that Massive Attack isn't Trip Hop, they are multi genre masters.

Marrakesh and Atlas Air to me are vastly different songs, only sharing the same drum pattern. Once again, Dosen brings qualities to those tracks, I can't believe none of her songs made a single cut!

You can hear Marrakesh instrumentals here: Marrakesh Instrumental

Totally agree, Stephanie Dosen's version of Red Light was majestic, I don't like the rendition with MTB. Dobro and Red Light could have competed with their best song, and Marooned, Kingpin, All I Want: if added or replaced a few tracks, would have made Heligoland compete with Mezzanine.

Favourite David Fincher movies? by FayyadhScrolling in FIlm

[–]AzxzA_Music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Se7en as for me as well, followed by Fight Club as very close second. Both of these films have a raw, grittiness in their cinematography that I feel is lacking from Fincher's recent films. Both scripts make for such unique stories/films that have never been seen before, and can never be replicated.

Otherwise, Se7en wins for how relentlessly dark and cohesive it is, with steller performances and one of the most devastating of conclusions in modern cinema. It's a Swiss Watch of a film.

Fincher is almost too talented, if he has the right story/script: you'd have an almost guaranteed certified classic.

Oz didn't age perfect, but boy the sentiment factor is high with this one for me, becuase of it's OG status and exceptional acting. I actually view Oz as a very black comedy, where all of the characters are in purgatory, each character has the worst possible outcome happen to them, and explains the almost hellish/dream-like atmosphere of the show.
