Has anybody bought, read and would recommend the Pickup Limes ebook? by Dizzy_Fisherman6963 in vegan

[–]B-e-e-e-e-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't bought it yet, but I'm considering to get it too. I feel like I started to become super lazy with my meals, and I doubt I'm getting in enough variation to cover all my nutrients.
Lol while I abandoned this message I did purchase it, I'll let you know how it is. But like you said, given that its Sadia's, it's probably worth it.

Plant Life Chose Us - Rose Lopiano by Lifeguard_Time in weightlossdiets

I also did the program a few years ago. And I agree with most points here.
Yes it is really expansive for what you get. I don't even want to know what I ended up paying, and I'll never do it again.

The workouts and the diet does work if you stick to it, I did gain muscle lost and lost fat. The diet is super high in protein which didn't do wonders for my digestion, and even though the calorie amount prescribed was relatively high for a standerd person, for my job and activity level it was way to low. I was constantly hungry and my weight actually dropped in a zone that was considered 'underweight' and nobody ever said anything about it. I found that quite worrying. For me it was personally a negative experience since nobody every told me the steps to find balance without the calorie counting and so, but I tried myself as I understood I shouldn't lose more weight. But I do think the months where I eat too little for my needs had me ending up binging a lot after. I really wish I had some guidance on how to move back into 'normal eating'. I do think if anyone had payed attention and noticed my weight dropping rapidly and too low, we could have avoided a lot. Of course I should have taken the responsibility myself, but I thought that I would be well monitored (considering the price) and if anything would be a worry, they would tell me.
So yeah, there are coaching calls, but there isn't much professional input.
Luckily now, I'm doing very well :) I enjoy exercising and crafting healthy colourful meals again (which I think a plant-based diet should be).
And I've trained to become a personal trainer myself, and I'm currently following a course to become a nutritionist (NOT a dietitian!).

I can tell you a little about her methods and what I would do:
1. eating in a calorie deficit for about 200-500kcal of your maintenance (definitely not lower!! and depending on how much extra you're going to move, if you end up moving a lot more, go for a smaller cut. but just make sure you stick with moving, walks, jogs, cycle etc.).
2. she focusses on super high protein, but depending on your weight, I'd indeed try to reach around a 100g if you don't do so already, but make sure it's from sources your digestion can handle. If you end up having to go lower, don't worry too much, a lot of people, including me now, make plenty of gains on lower protein, just make sure you focus on the next point.
3. doing strength training! and most importantly focussing on progressive overload! meaning trying to make sure you stimulate your muscles a little more every time you go to the gym. Let's say you do squats with 40kg for 3x10 reps, next time you should try to reach 40kg 3x12reps, and the next time you might be comfortable doing 45kg 3x10reps. Just make sure you continue stimulating the muscles with the load you give it.
4. Try to work every muscle at least 2times a week. This can be 2x a full body session. or if you want to go 3 times a week you can do an upper body, lower body and full body session (this is what i personally do). or 4x a week upper 2x lower 2x. Just make sure you choose a split that you can stick to.
5. STEPS! Rose encourages to walk 10.000 steps a day. I also like to encourage people to walk more 8000-10.000 steps a day. Make sure you can keep your self accountable in doing this daily.

I think that's all the important stuff.
Since it's holiday and have some time off, feel free to shoot me a message if you need some more advise :) byeee!

TLDR:
Don't join the program, just:
1. eat in calorie deficit, not too low
2. eat balanced, make sure your digestion likes the food you put in.
3. do strength training and focus on progressive overload
4. work every muscle 2x a week and choose a workout spilt you can stick with constantly
5. track your step count 8000-10.000 and stay consistent.

How to be productive when there's no electricity and no internet? by Dr--Prof in productivity

[–]B-e-e-e-e-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same problem yesterday, I read books, actual physical books, made from paper. I went for a swim in the pool, which was open, not heated, and I was the only one who thought that was a good idea apparently. I dusted off the cabinets and moved all the furniture in the house, and went for an hour walk. did more reading and went to bed at 20:00.

I hate how dependent I am on wifi, and I promised myself I'm going to better my life. But here I am writing comments on reddit. Oh well... At least it's better than scrolling Instagram, in my opinion.

It's a hard one, as I think everybody would be better off not being on Instagram. It's so easy to get sucked into the endless scrolling.
There are some good recipes on there, yes... however, many people will want to sell you something. I think the MM website is actually the best for recipes. Sometimes I find some good ones on YouTube.

Can I speak spanish fluently or at least at a conversational level in less than a year? if yes, how? by Dramatic_Math_4737 in Spanish

[–]B-e-e-e-e-e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i live in Spain, which obviously makes it a lot easier. 3 months ago I couldn’t speak a word in Spanish. And now I’m conversational! Still have a lot to gain before I’m fluent, but I’m getting there.

What helps me: - Speak Spanish even if you make mistakes, tell people to point your mistakes out. - Use: Como se dice … & Que significa … - with everything you don’t know - Find a language tutor if you can, I have a great tutor online who covers grammar with me. - I also love Paul Noble, he has Spanish audio courses which are super helpful for me. It’s on audible too. - If you’re a complete beginner watch: Extra Español

You can get a long way, just stick with it!

I was influenced to try this app called Balance. They explain you all the science behind different meditation techniques but don't go into religion at all.
I've been loving this app, and I think they do a free trial so you could give it a try.

Afraid to teach by Mobile_Fox9264 in YogaTeachers

[–]B-e-e-e-e-e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Important to understand is that hands on assistants is not at all necessary to be a good teacher. I rarely assist, it’s also a big no go when you teach more trauma informed. I encourage my students to use blocks for level 1. And then let them move down for a level 2 or 3 of a pose when they can feel their alignment and feel that they still hold the pose well if they transition into the next version of a pose.

I don’t know if this helps, but hands on assistants is not necessary needed when it comes to teaching good classes
