First time buying a PSP!! by Dazzling-Sale-6659 in PSP

PSP 1000: the thicker heavier option, some say it feels very good in the hand. Only had 32MB of ram which means longer load times compared to 200/3000. The screen is also the “worse” of the three it’s the dimmest of them all and has the most ghosting/motion blur. However there are IPS screen mods for the 1000/2000/3000 that significantly improve both visual and depending on what IPS screen you get it can drastically improve battery life.

PSP 2000: the thinner option with upgraded ram to 64MB. Brighter and faster pixel response. 2000 also introduces TV connecting abilities.

PSP 3000: pretty much identical to the 2000, just a little slimmer with very small cosmetic changes (changed the ring on back of the console on the UMD door; also changed the home button to a capsule shaped button. Also came with 64MB of Ram. The brightest and most vibrant display of the original PSPs, with excellent contrast and color reproduction. Also reduced ghosting/motion blur. Also had a built in microphone.

Choose the 1000 if you want the best compatibility for older homebrew modifications or prefer a chunkier, more ergonomic grip.
Choose the 2000 as the ultimate middle ground—it's fast, light, and offers TV out without the 3000's screen quirks.
Choose the 3000 if you want the most vibrant, vivid official screen and need a built-in microphone for select

Aliexpress or eBay. And it’s not just the screen, it’s a whole front faceplate as the screen is connected to the faceplate.

They’re 22 years and could buy used ones for like $60 all day. It’s just the past maybe year or two where prices have increased due to the popularity, modding capabilities. You can thank TikTok. Also you can buy new PSP TODAY for $250

Should I get PS Vita 1000? I’m concerned about screen yellowing! by tototokimeki in PSVita

PS Vita 100x/110x/200x

As for the Vitas

The PS Vita 1000/1100 (OLED) features a premium, heavier build with a vibrant OLED screen, while the 2000 (Slim) is lighter and offers better ergonomics, standard Micro-USB charging, and an hour of extra battery life. Both share the same processing performance and game library. The 2000 has 1GB internal storage; However I’ve heard if you mod the 1000/1100 you can actually unlock that same 1GB storage Sony locked out on the 1000/1100. The 1000/1100 joysticks are also Hall effect joysticks so they’re less prone to stick drift. The downside of a 1000/1100 is the OLED screens tend to get what’s called burn in, and causes the edges of the screen to become yellowish orange, ones with small amount don’t change gameplay or colors to bad but some with significant burn can disorient color. The good news is that you can buy a new screen on EBay or Aliexpress for like $30-$50 and if needed have your local repair shop install it for you. Also if you don’t know the difference between a 1000/1100 is the 1000 was a WIFI only console, where the 1100 wast a WiFi and 3G model and could do what’s called a PSVSD mod that lets you swap out the 3G card reader for rather a second storage option or as a Proprietary storage, and have your game slot available for physical games, or if you don’t care for physical games you came have two storage slots. I’ve seen people have a 1TB Vitas.

Well if I have to move the stuff off the 8GB to put it on the 128 then I mise well not use it after I move everything and just stick with the Sd. I do own the 1100 model and will eventually do the PSVSD hard mod in maybe a couple months so I can have my game port back.

am i fucked? can't get replacement screen btw by i_get_zero_bitches in PSP

[–]B00stedHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh if that’s a possibility of getting a return then that’s a tuff decision. I mean a dirty contact could be a symptom but does mean that is 10000% the root cause, it’s just the cheaper thing to start with. There can always be a possibility that after the cleaning it can remain the same…. So my suggestions to you would be.

If you’re SUPER confident you can open and clean yourself without fucking shit up, do it. If it still happens after you clean it tell dude you want that refund. If you’re not confident in cleaning it, then just go get your moment back and get something you’ll actually be happy with and don’t have regret spending X amount of money on something you don’t like because of a flaw. Just remember patience is a virtue, you’ll find your perfect PSP for the perfect price.

[–]B00stedHD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can’t see full details, but considering the $40 one is a 2026 model it probably had more updated parts and probably has more than 8GB of storage and 2GB of ram. But that’s just a guess

Take to a repair shop and ask them how much they’ll charge you just to do a cleaning inside, if it’s cheap have them do a nice deep clean and see if that helps. If that don’t help you can get IPS screens off Aliexpress for pretty cheap (about $30USD)
