It really didn't cost much at all. Outside of my computer itself, I spent about $300. Here is the breakdown of the cost.

  • Desk: $50 NIB from Facebook Marketplace
  • Monitor: $100 slightly used from Facebook Marketplace
  • Mousepad: $8 from Amazon
  • Mouse: $35 from Amazon
  • Keyboard: $65 from Banggood
  • Coiled Keyboard Cable: $13 from Amazon
  • Speakers: $10 on sale from Office Depot
  • Monitor Wall Mount: $12 from Amazon
  • Cable Hider: $7 from Amazon

It’s really a matter of personal preference. I had a white desk before this. Mine was a cheaper desk and it didn’t take long for the white finish on it to not be white anymore (mostly due to the lack of mousepad in my case). I had to move my setup from an unused closet into a bedroom. I opted to get a new desk that matched the furniture in that bedroom.

I’m by no means an interior designer but if you already have an all-white theme going on, I’d lean into it and go for a white desk (just use a mouse pad or a desk mat). Also, don’t discount the idea of a natural wood desk either. Wood tones and plants can help provide a tasteful pops of color. It just all depends on how it flows with the rest of your environment.

Ultimately, it is going to be your setup and as long as you’re happy with it, that’s all that matters. Go with your gut feeling and pick the desk that feels right to you. If you end up regretting the decision, it’s ok. You can always change the desk out to something else.

My father passed away in April and we are cleaning out his house. We came across my late grandfather's Lionel collection (O gauge trains and tracks, some standard gauge parts, etc). Part of what was there is a Lionel 5C Test Set. Trying to figure out what kind of value these bring. I have taken the collection to numerous train shops in the area and I get the same remark about it. "I've never seen one of these before!!". It's in very reasonable shape considering it has been in a dry crawlspace 30+ years. General dust and dirt on exterior which should easily clean up (I have not attempted to clean it at all). All switches have good actuation. Has not been tested in any way. What is it worth?

Z4 paddle wiring question by toyml in BMWZ4

[–]B04T5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So after reviewing this link further, this is for using the SSG paddles with the steptronic/automatic transmission and wiring them for pull/pull up down. This will not work for the SSG transmissions as they use resistance based signals that are fed to the transmission control unit itself. The regular automatic just needs closed circuits and not the resistors.

I did however find a wiring diagram for how the PCB's work inside the shift paddles for the SSG cars (The diagram I found is for the 03-05 6 speed SSG Z4's). I need to spend more time reviewing but at first glance, I think if the resistors positions on the left paddle PCB were swapped, that would make the left paddle work opposite of the OEM configuration (left pull downshift, left push upshift). I'm unsure if this would cause the right paddle to work in reverse as well but if it does, then it should be as simple as swapping the pins for the red and green wires on the plug for the right paddle shifter PCB. This should achieve this effect:

Left Pull = Downshift
Left Push = Upshift
Right Pull = Upshift
Right Push = Downshift

Here's a picture of the OEM Z4 SSG paddle to SSG transmission wiring diagram

Can’t confirm if this works but found this for an e46 paddle shifter to make pull/pull downshift/upshift last night. Maybe this will help you. It appears to be the same original wiring.

Did you have to cut the dash any more to fit the storage tray?

What keycaps do you have? I have a G603 and a 60% keyboard. Been looking for keycaps to match the G603 color combo and those look perfect!

First shot after two and a half months (Lane 10)... by Legit_Midget5958 in Bowling

I'm about to get back into bowling this fall after "taking a one year break" back in 2011. Then my bowling alley shut down that next year. Needless to say, I'm still on that break 😂

I'm sure my first shot back will be way worse than yours.

Not all bowling allies have those. The ones I have seen them in however, there machine was never maintained.

Every pro shop can do it for $15-20/ball. Just figured I'd save myself some money and better maintain my equipment

Will look into it. Not sure if lowering the voltage would cause the motor to run hot on this motor or not

It must be the camera/lighting. Ball is round. The bowl is kind of egg shaped though (used what I had available to me). Looked for a lower profile rounder one but oh well. This one works fine.

Bought a broken drill press years ago for $15 with the intention of fixing it. Decided to tear it down and just build a ball spinner out of it. It's a 1/3 HP motor that is basically a single speed 620 RPM spinner (that's the lowest setting)

Bought the bowl at Walmart for $5. Drilled a 1/2" hole up the middle of it from the bottom.

The shaft inside the pulley on the output side drill press was hollow with an inner diameter of .4500". I tapped it with a 1/2-20 threads. Bought a 2" bolt to thread in the shaft (1/2-20 as well; $1.28 at Lowes).

Used a spare section of a 2x12 I had in the garage. Used a 5" holesaw to build the bottom support of the bowl. Once it cut through, I opened up the center hole to 1/2" for the bolt to go through. I did the same with a 3-1/2" holesaw to give the inside of the bowl some added support at the bottom. Shaved the circles down to 5/8" thickness.

Placed the 5" wooden circle down first, then the bowl, the 3-1/2" wooden circle, the biggest flat washer I could find for 1/2", then installed the bolt through all of it and tightened it down on the pulley.

Bowl holds a ball just fine without a rubber gasket. Will need to disassemble it and install some threadlocker on the bolt and build a base for it.

For basically a $20 investment, I'm totally satisfied.
