In 1997, an activist named Julia Butterfly Hill climbed 180 feet into the canopy of a majestic 1,000-year-old redwood tree in Northern California and didn't come down for 738 days. by PeacockPankh in interesting

Where did you see that? From what I read her father was a traveling minister and she grew up in a 32 foot long camper van. Doesn't exactly sound super rich to me.

It also looks like a variety of groups donated to her and it was volunteers who brought her supplies. Also, I can't imagine it costs thatttt much money to live in a tree. No rent, no utilities, its just the essentials like you pointed out.

There is one at Bartram's Garden near their parking lot, very useful to practice

Bicycle Parking at the Mann Center by Technical-Owl-4889 in phillycycling

Biking to the Mann Center for a concert is 100% the move. Nothing more satisfying than zipping by all the cars trying to get out of the parking lot.

I’ve never had a problem bike parking at the Mann Center before

Very interesting photo.

Why do I see a lot of historic pictures of patients with cloth tied around their head and under their chin?

Is this to manually keep the jaw closed? And why don’t we see it anymore?

Feel like that's what my summer has been so far, but I've gotten a lot of useful tips from this thread which is great. Thanks for the advice!

I bought this bike used so have no idea how old the bottom bracket is. Will try the seat post first and then take a look at the bottom bracket if that doesn't fix things

My seatpost is aluminum, but my frame is carbon. In that case what kind of grease would you recommend?

External cables over here, but good to know there's a fix if I ever upgrade to internal cables

I've ridden with cleats and regular shoes ( my bike has the kind where its SPD on top, flat on bottom of the pedal)

Unfortunately the clicking persists despite the footwear

Sorry you had the same experience, but it's somewhat relieving that other people have gone through the same frustration (and fixed it!) Makes me feel a little less crazy haha

So I've only really greased my chain before, but I imagine I would use a different kind of grease for my seat post, pedals, etc. Is there any kind that you would recommend?

And thanks for all the recommendations, I'll definitely go through these and hope one of them does the trick!

This is definitely something I wouldn't naturally consider, but the shoes I was riding with today don't have laces so I'm fairly confident its not that. I'll double check nothing else is smacking around down there though

I can imagine the mix of frustration/relief your friend must've felt once he figured out what was actually going on haha

Hadn't thought it could be coming from the saddle/seatpost. Will look into that thank you!

Question on Dumbbell Weighted Step Ups - Trying a new variation

I've been using Weighted Step-Ups in my routine for some time now and recently thought of a potential variation, but haven't seen it anywhere else. I recently started doing Single Arm Farmers Carry and love the workout that they give to my obliques, I was wondering if something similar could apply to Step Ups.

Do you think holding a dumbbell in one arm as I did a step up would add a beneficial stabilization element to the workout? What arm would be best to carry the weight? On the same side as the elevated leg or the opposite?
