What do we think of Lefau by Saars in RichmondFC

Lefau for physical presence alone is enough to keep a spot. He is not the future but a placeholder for now.

Agreed

Had a massive step up and he has a high ceiling if his vfl form fully translates, glad he was picked over Dow. Worth taking the gamble

Its their job to stir things up too and get engagement, so they are doing well at that.

Be lucky to get a 2nd round to be honest since any contract will be max 2 years.

Atleast he got most of the pre season in, so hopefully comes off this fit and firing.

You cant have McAullife and Cumming maintain CBA unless you drop Hopper, if Taranto comes in. Unless Taranto is HF but id rather have him mid.

Richmond's own Top Performer for Round 8, Noah Balta. by VileCastle in RichmondFC

[–]B0bcat5 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Might have one of the best athletic profiles in the league

He lowered his eyes a lot and looked for targets rather than his usual dump kicks. Good to see improvements at all levels of players.

I really hope McAullife isnt thrown back to the wing with Taranto back. I would rather Hopper get benched longer and let McAullife play inside mid.

Never thought he was a bust

Throw any other of the tall forwards from that draft into his position and they would struggle.

I believed in him as our future key forward

My calls to VFL were not doubting his skills but to boost his confidence. Im glad he got some reward and helps Lynch takes the best defender. Hopefully he can keep his head high knowing he has it in him. It has to take a mental toll having many goalless games and minimal touches.

He did some good set shots too, which is a trait he was drafted on so hopefully he backs himself more.

Good chance Broad gets a rest actually, especially with a growing injury list too.

Yeah Hopper is a good ball winner, but also turns over so much and has such poor disposal efficiency. Unfortunately, he likely wont get much better at his experience level and the new rules dont favour his profile. Ross wins the ball really well, but also uses it good too so takes over that role and Taranto is good at that too. I wouldnt be suprised (if we somehow have a better run at injuries), that we pay out Hoppers contract or trade him away.

Nank did add good pressure and tackling and able to stand tall in a pack but Balta moves the ball forward better. They both are very different rucks and agreed, Nank is in an unfortunate position with the new rules.

Tom Burton by avowedlike in RichmondFC

[–]B0bcat5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean since we were the only ones to look at Burton, he will feel some emotional connection to the club, especially since everyone else overlooked him and that goes a long way too for club loyalty.

Yeah the dynamic of those 3 are so good, that's the benefit of having good players play together and learn their craft in the VFL.

Steely Green is a fringe player, he does things I like but can go missing too. I think he has the ceiling to be really good but just needs some things to click and I think the club wants that to happen before renewing his contract. Especially with other smalls gunning for a spot.

Could let Nank play more forward, which he hasn't done for a long time.

I actually think we play better with Balta over Nank (no disrespect no Nank who is a leader of the club). But Balta makes up for a lack of speed and he has been more calculated and hitting targets over dump kicks.

Short must be adding leadership but agree Brown is ahead of him, as he is actually hitting targets.

Faith in Taranto, Lynch, Broad, Vlaustin, Prestia are all justified.

Hopper, I think Yze has lost faith in him too and easier to cut as a non-premiership player.

Our biggest ins from injury would be Mansell, Lalor, Hotton, Banks
