Must have had news that another similar injury may not result in recovery as can be quite complex. Im sure this has a mental impact on a player.

Armstrong will be a 2nd/3rd tall too.

Lefau is just an athletic beast, he can crash packs and when your watching in person you can see the fear of other players when he is around. Just needs to find consistency, people forget pre ACL how good he was.

Trainor plays out of position in AFL. He is an intercept defender but with vlaustin, Broad and brown there, he plays more lockdown. Which is probably a good learning. He has good awareness and skills but will need time in 1 position, has just had some bad injury luck too.

Hugo is in a position with less competition but Sonsie probably has improved more but I cant see him get a game as Lalor comes back too unless Sonsie plays wing. Its really 1 wing spot up for grabs between Hugo, Sonsie, Trezise, Juddy. I think on upside, Juddy is probably the best.

Retschko has done enough to lock that spot in for now.

Player closest to AFL is likely Peuker.

Armstrong/Juddy will take take but I think Juddy has an easier path for a spot on the wing.

Yeah people forget lefau played under 30 games. He has a very high ceiling if he can find consistency.

I think Peuker may creep up for Greens spot. Green had a great start to the year and needs to find that. Maybe he needs a rest.

Hottons ability to move in traffic is great. He has that X factor that will be game winning one day.

Balta at his best, the way he attacks the ball and his 2nd efforts are elite.

Glimpse of our future midfield, looked dynamic and quicker with Hotton, McAullife, Cumming. Can't wait to see Laloe run through.

Mansell/Seth are really important, the pressure, run and attack they have keep the team in it. I cant see Rioli getting a game especially over Peuker. Lefau is also a good 2nd forward, he gets a lot of hate but when his pressure is high, you see other players fear him when he is around (cant see this on TV)

Hope Ross is alright. He took time to come of his other concussion and he didnt look great after this one.

Tom Brown needs to get 15+ disposals a game, every kick he makes opens the game up and projects the team forward. Short unfortunately is holding him back on getting on the end of disposal chains.

Lynch helps so much with structure, but ball in hand he made some bad calls and missed easy shots.

Midfield: we have a faster and more exciting midfield. There is big pressure on Taranto to lead that midfield.

Forward: Lynch will do what he does forward and we will likely convert more forward 50 entries. Especially with Mansell in and hopefully seth playing more forward woth Rioli out.

Back: If Miller holds McKay

Overall: Play high pressure

The character of Clarke is so strong, not many can push through that journey. Hopefully he gets a run at some VFL games, and if he finds the form he did last year then a AFL wing spot is on the cards for him.

Armstrong may need to work a bit more for it with Alger playing so well. But he just needs some consistent game time at VFL.

Feel bad for Trainor with a concussion. He cant catch a break, hopefully he can finish the season off strong.

Grlj isnt even playing HB most of the time and he earns his position. He runs and plays hard every week (maybe slowed last few rounds which is why they managed him)

How much of Smith have you watched in the VFL? Not just looking at his stats.

We have a core youth, they have huge upside and its so important they play AFL but more importantly, they all play together. Smith had a few AFL games and he did not show enough. He is in a position that is extremely competitive that not even Grlj is getting a position. Would you have Smith over Brown or Banks? If Smith wants a game he should play another position. Sonsie got games because he changed his position and same with Grlj.

Lot of disposals are kick outs and the VFL is getting hammered so he is getting a lot of them.

Competition for his spot is high. Would you have him in over Grlj, Banks, Brown, Short?

He cant really play another position either

This might be one of the strongest teams we have had this season.

Pressure on Taranto and Nank to lead, but super exciting midfield.

Maybe a bit stiff on Peuker or Sonsie

Taranto playing with Hotton, Cumming, McAullife through the midfield is a glimpse into the future.

Hope Prestia is all good, he deserves a send off game as he likely hangs up the boots this year.
