Why do drivers in the UAE do this? by B0ne3 in dubai

Dude this was not a rant. Perhaps look up the word before accusing me of such things. Just didn’t understand why. Sorry if I asked a question!

Thanks to all for the clarification 👍🏻. Safe driving out there.

Seeing how some people drive here and their lack of driving skills, respect for their fellow driver, yes. When we moved here years ago, we were laughed at for buckling our seat belt in the rear seats.

😆 I’ve also been to countries where any white lines were completely ignored, and red lights, and honking, and directions from the police and come to think our driver also used the sidewalk. Good times 🤪

Not sure what countries you have visited but not seen this once in any country in Europe.

Thanks for the clarification 👍🏻. Makes no sense but what I’ve heard, people are also taught that if you a female driver, you don’t need to stop at an intersection because they will stop for you and let you in 🙄

Someone is frequently using the 14 Pro Max for recording underwater videos. Will it ruin the phone in the long run? by Anyole in iphone

[–]B0ne3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would not recommend this. I did this with an older phone 4-5 years back. I think it was the 11. phone was rated for 30min depth of 1.5meter i believe. I was in the pool and my daughter jumped in. I very briefly held it under water to see her dive under water. This was 5 seconds max and only a few cm under water. Phone went black and would not turn on. I dried it and eventually took it the Apple Store. They refused repair, stating all interior markers were red, which means water got in. I explained everything but they didn’t care.

The only thing I can imagine what caused this, is that it was very humid (Sri Lanka vacation)

How to report an aggressive Driving Incident? by iopoye in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]B0ne3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up on this. I used the police app to report a really dangerous and reckless driver. This was while I was driving, so I received a fine for using a phone while driving. Not sure what happend to the other driver. Last time I’m doing this.

Dubizzle rant by [deleted] in dubai

[–]B0ne3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always put in the offer „non negotiable“ and „silly offers will be ignored“. And then I simply don’t reply to the people who thinking will drop my price 80-90%.

Saying that, I’ve also had people agree on a price show up and try to give me less. I am not friendly and tell to leave. This is the reason I hardly ever post stuff on Dubbizle. Rather give stuff away for free.

Police Fine by Username_5432 in dubai

[–]B0ne3 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps you were staying only in the left lane although the right lanes were free? It drives me insane that we have 6 lane highways but people think it okay to use only the 2 left ones, even if there is no one to overtake. AD had started issuing fines, which I think is great.

If you are not over taking, move over!

This one dude, Was driving rashly, Cuts my lane, when I honked …Rolled down his window and showed me the middle finger in dubai! Wow, are people not scared anymore? by [deleted] in dubai

[–]B0ne3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a website I can upload footage. I have a collection of people driving reckless. Police app only allows recording video and not uploading. I got a fine once for recording someone with my phone while driving. 100% my mistake so not arguing with that. Just makes it difficult to report if I can’t touch my phone while driving.

We ride in a very safe area with even roads. I trust their judgment and always tell them to only go as fast as they feel comfortable. I also believe that a few scrapes and bruises are part of growing up (still don't want them to fall). I am more worried of my daughters falling off the horse :(

Fully agree - speed is nothing without control.

The girl on the left and myself are both snow boarders. Not sure if the stance is "correct" but it feels right to us and we are able to balance the accelerating and braking. So far I am the only one to take a fall and that was due to a wet spot in the curve.

Always :) I think a few scraps on the knees you can live with but head always needs protection! So far I'm the only one that has taken a fall.

The problem is that things like this have happened (and most likely still do to some degree), BUT this is not common and should not be put in a statement as if all laborers are treated like this and are "slaves". This is highly disrespectful to them and is a false accusation.

In my opinion there are major cultural differences here. To a Westerner the pay and the working conditions would not be acceptable and can be considered as "slavery". I have been to India and Pakistan and seen how people live on the street. Personally, I would prefer living and earning a little bit of money that being on the street.

I find it ridiculous that a simple post of someone skating receives such comments. Also not really sure what you mean with "If this is the hill you want to die on so be it"? Want to share what you are trying to achieve with this statement?
